Auditions Announcement For Disney's Beauty and The Beast Beauty & The Beast Poster

The local production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast comes to the Brookings-Harbor Community in November 2008. Nominated for nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, the production features exquisite songs and spectacular dance numbers like "Belle," "Gaston" and "Be Our Guest".

The cast calls for 16 speaking roles, including eight principals, and a chorus and dance troupe.Casting is for youth and adults between the ages of 8 and 80. The show will play in five performances. General rehearsals will start the beginning of September. "Beauty and the Beast" will be produced and directed by Dori Blodgett and choreographed by Cheryl Seaton.

The reading and singing auditions begin on Monday, August 18th in the Chetco Grange Community Center in Harbor, Oregon.

From 3:00-5:00 PM we will have open auditions for everyone interested in roles as townspeople and the enchanted castle characters.

From 5:00 to 7:00 PM we will audition people that fit the specific ages and descriptions for each lead role. We do invite this group to audition twice by attending the earlier auditions if possible.

We will hand out script lines for reading and we will ask for singers to be prepared with a song that shows their vocal range. They may bring a CD or sing a cappella.

On Tuesday, August 19th, 12:00 to 4:00 PM we will hold dance auditions for placement of tavern scene dancers, wolves, gargoyles and the castle's enchanted objects.

Please pick-up a casting list for the age guidelines and descriptions of the characters from Dori Blodgett at Chetco Library or call 541-661-2473 for more information

On a personal note...I enjoy theater so much but because I can't sing I will not be auditioning!! I do plan to help with set construction...and I know Dori will need plenty of hands because this set is going to be elaborate!
