I work hard to advertise and keep myself knowledgeable on current events and market trends. I figure I must if I want to be considered by potential clients. Nonetheless, through my continual efforts, I'll every now and then run into frustration with this career.

There have been plenty of times that I've lost business because someones uncle has a friend with a sister who's brother once went to a football game with a guy who has a cousin who sells Real Estate when they are not working there 9-5 job. Then I'll hear from this "once was a client" how their home buying or selling experience was horrible and how they should have used me.

Ok, well life happens and that's just part of the job. You can't get every lead...right!?! The frustration pushes forward when I see other Realtor's with far less knowledge and dedication gain high dollar listings or buying clients all because they are related to the right person.

I know this business is an extremely social one and one huge part is to keep known amungst your community, but how nice would it be if we all new all the right people and our work load was cut in half.

Ya, I'm just ranting and no, I'm not upset at people for being fortunate, but some days, when your working late, your mind wanders and blog posts magically occur.

Thanks for the open ears~ :)

I agree with you.  It is the nature of the business, unfortunately.  It bothers me more to have to deal with agents who are not honest and have no integrity.

Jose- yes, this happens and more so in luxury home markets. We get this here too so we combat it by becoming very famous. People like famous people. You get back by creating a press kit and really hitting the media with press releases.
