Ranked number 37 on this years's CNN Money List   http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2008/snapshots/PL5166672.html , Reston is a well-rounded, well-educated community within close proximity to Washington D.C., Tysons Corner, Dulles International Airport, Reagan International Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

What used to be a sleepy little bedroom community has become a vibrant urban/suburban destination.  At the center of Reston you will find the Reston Towncenter.  The original plans for Reston focused on "Village" Centers for shopping, but as the community has grown the development and growth of the Reston Town Center has given the residents a central meeting location.  The Town Center is the site of outdoor concerts, parades, the ice skating pavilion (in winter) as well as tons of shopping and restaurants.  The Village Centers still have the grocery stores the dry cleaners, specialty stores and local restaurants and almost every home is within walking distance of one of these Village Centers. Lake Anne Village Center hosts the Farmers Market during the Spring and Summer months and many crafts and Artisan festivals, as well.

There are many things that make Reston unique, but one of the best things is the prevalence of mature trees and the many, many miles of walking paths that weave through the community. All residents of Reston become members of Reston Association (RA). RA provides swimming pools, tennis courts and other recreational opportunities to homeowners and residents as a result of the membership.

The traffic can be maddening (as reported on the CNN Money List), but there are options to limit driving. There are express buses within the community, park and ride lots, and plans to connect Reston to the Metro System. The W & OD bike trail goes through Reston, making it easier to bike from Reston to other communities along the trail.  As the number of businesses in Reston grows, it becomes easier and easier to live, work and play in Reston.

I first came to Reston when I was 7, grew up here and returned to raise my family. It is a wonderful place to live. If you have questions about living in Reston, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always thrilled to introduce my clients to Reston!

Holly, I believe Reston should be #36 because I dispute #19 on the list.  In my book, that does not exist.

You know what, Tchaka, you are right. In the same vein, there is no such place as "Sully,VA" either, and it is ranked number 25. At least at 31. (really 29.), Burke is a real place.  That would put Reston at 35.  I suspect this analysis was done strictly on zip codes and not by communities.  I wonder how many other mistakes appear on the list?

Holly, I don't think they really know what they're doing.  Or they're using some dbase that's not going by traditional city boundaries.  What they call Hunter Mill would need the populations of Reston, Oakton and part of the Wolftrap section of Vienna to reach that number.

I did email them right after the report came out and they never responded.  That to me means they fudged up and can't think of an appropriate response.
