It was another Father - Son day. I try to have a Father/Son day and a Father/Daughter day at least once a week. Don't get me wrong, I am married to and live with my kids mother but I try to have at least one special day a week with each one. My father was a workaholic and I think just like some other "aholic" behaviors this can be hereditary. I did not get to know my dad until I was in my 40's and by then I really wasn't to interested anymore. Even though I think I'm pretty lame as a dad I want my kids to at least remember me if I drop of the Earth tomorrow.

We had a lot of fun, which in Timmothy's case means we ate a lot and of course for visiting the Wiener Mobile we each got a really neat wiener whistle. Timmothy aslo got a free picture of him as a wiener. I guess we have to go to the Oscar Meir website to view/download it. Hopefully of the zillion pictures they take they will think Timmothy is the perfect little boy for an advertising campaign and throw hundreds of thousands of dollars our way.

You taking individual time for each of your children is wonderful!  There's nothing better than making a memory!  It looks like you and you son had a wonderful day out!

I think your father-son and father-daughter days are great.  I try to do the same with my grandsons.  I only take one at a time so we can spend time doing things that they like and eat their favorites when they spend the night.  One loves to have pizza and watch wrestling, he's 9, athe other is 5 and loves me to make dry black eye peas, fried potatoes, and cornbread, and riding in his hot wheels.  I had great grand parents and I hope someday to be as good a grandma as I had.  You are setting a great example for your children as to what a parent shouldbe. Keep up the good work.  I'll look for your son on the Oscar Meyer commercials.  He has to learn the song...Oh I wish I was an Oscar Meyer weiner, that is what I truly want to beee.... Come on finish the song.

Barbara, thanks, it was a fun day and he didn't even mind a little business mixed in being I kept it short.

Charlotte, you sound like an excellent Grandma. The number one reason we live in Minot ND is because that is where the kids only living grandparent lives. My kids are 6 and 8 and I'm 54 so I hope I live long enough to be a grandparent (especially being my wife tells Tina she can't date until she is 30).

Great Post!  I think it is a great idea to set individual time for each one of your kids.  One on one time goes a long ways in building a relationship with your kids even if they're with a weiner!  Thanks for the great story. -Shane

Bob, what great pictures! Your son will look back on them and enjoy the memories that you are creating. I always wanted to drive the wienermobile!
