Mirela - In the 70's I spent more time at the Spanish Galleon & fat Harolds than I did at home! Just wish that I had the money those two placees have made in the past 40-50 years!
Are you kidding me? O.D and The Pad were king when I was a lad. You are most likely too young to remember the Pad. Often hard to get in it was so packed. My sister was queen of the shag back in the day and even today she is still the best I have ever seen. Thanks so much for this post. Really brings back some good, no, GREAT memories.
IN GREENSBORO, WE LIVED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO THE "PAD" AND SHAG. IT WAS THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION FOR THE IN CROWD. THE GIRLS PRACTICED TOGETHER FOR HOURS AT A TIME SO WE WOULD BE READY FOR THE PAD (OR ANY STREET IN MYRTLE BEACH OR CHERRY GROVE WHICH WE COULD FIND). DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE A PHOTO OF THE OLD PAD? BOY, WOULD I LOVE TO HAVE ONE.

About pictures, the Freakin Deacon, legendary DJ in Myrtle Beach is working the 3:00PM to 6:00PM shift at 949 the Surf. Deacon is a fantastic artist and has drawn color prints of many of the wonderful places in the Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach area and beyond. The Pad included. You can view them by googleing Freakin Deacon Art. I think he sells them to cheaply, $20.00, they are beautiful.
