By the numbers

Market summary: 

Sales:-67% ...

Sales:YTD 2006(181), YTD 2005(476) ...

inventory +175% from 2005 ...

average DOM(83) ...

price reductions (lots of 'em) ...

These are some of the bleak numbers in my area as of August. So what is to be said of our market as a whole. Will 2007 be the year of the short sale and the foreclosure?  Buyers may now know how much power they possess over the market, but they are missing out on some great rates and some good deals while they are "waiting to see what the market does."  Sellers are also living in 2004-2005 and trying to get 2004-2005 prices.  Are there any thriving markets out there that are seeing upward numbers? And to the seasoned agents, what are you telling your buyers and sellers these days to keep your sales up?
