Twitter is a useful micro blog platform that allows its users to post micro posts of 140 characters or smaller.  Realtor's can utilize Twitter to further promote their AR posts and even announce a new property placed on the market.

Further uses of Twitter for a real estate professionals might include:

  1. Announcing New Industry news both regional or national.
  2. Passing a long a lead referral - "I have a client interested in buying a condo in Tampa; any Realtor's interested?"
  3. Sharing success stories - "I just closed on my second home this month!"
  4. Discoveries - "I just found this IDX platform, take a look! http://..."
  5. Open Houses - "Today I'll be at..."

Twitter is helpful for those that may not have time to write out a full blog post but want to share something with others really quickly and easily.  It is also great for promotional purposes since anything you 'Twitt" will be shown to anyone following your profile.

Today an Active Rain profile was created for Twitter.  The purpose of the profile is to share several AR member posts through out each day directly through the AR profile.  It is also meant to help real estate professionsals connect and share with other Active Rain Members.

Take the two - three minutes nessessary to create and update your own Twitter account at http://twitter.com/signup.  Once you create your own profile or if you already have a profile visit the AR profile at http://twitter.com/activerain and click on "Follow" under the profile's icon at the top left.

Thanks, I'm new to AR and have been wondering what Twitter is?  This helps and I will be sure to look into it.

Hope you have a nice weekend!

I look at Twitter and don't understand what all the excitment is about -- it just doesn't look particularly interesting or robust to me. ~Evelyn

Twitter is useful depending mostly on what streams you're plugged into (who you're following). I have two twitter accounts, one for the RE-bloggersphere and one for the SEO sphere. It is useful reading the tweets of the big SEO bloggers, becausethey put out links to a lot of great seo resources, and keeps you on top of the wave of information. But it can be kinda....worthless sometimes. Hit and miss- I suggest following a good number of RELEVANT people.

Would you think that twitter would be a good place for a realtor who just launched her website ?
