Richard, Gatlinburg and the Chattanooga area of Tennessee were great vacation spots years ago as a drive up from Florida. Very pretty places.

Richard- very nice localism post. What beautiful colors the trees show in the fall there. 11-13 million visitors a year is amazing!

Gary...

They still are! One thing I have noticed over the years is that the trees in the park are bigger as many of the second growth forests are nearing 100 years old! Thanks for the comment!

April...

I hope that you came back and saw it, it's a good one! Thanks.

Cameron...

If anything, the park is MORE beautiful now! THX!

Lori...Certain areas are VERY crowded, especially in October ... but I know some quiet spots! Thanks you.

Richard,

My darling and I were driving thru the Great Smokey Mountains at color change time and I happen to take a picture across a valley and all of the colors just fused together.  So all I have had was the memory until now you have done a great job of showing the beauty of this National Park.

BTW, don't forget Dollywood there in Gatlinburg.

Richard - I like Gatlinburg. At the Best Western you can stay in a room on an island in the river. There is some decent golf. My only disappointment, the Trout House serves farmed trout.

Great shot.
