I have a question about Storage? Updated!

By
Home Stager with Creative Staging Solutions LLP

 Hi all!

I wanted some information on storage. I use a local lock up that is clean, dry and cheep. I spoke with another Stager in Ks. and she has a small store front where she sells some of her old stock. She is only open on Fri. and Sat. for a few hours. I think this is a great idea! Anyone doing this? I found 2500 square foot space and the rent is fair. I want it for storage 1st of all, but the idea of having a store front sounds good to me! What do you think? What works for you? Any information would be great!

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

I didn't see your blog earlier, and I just posted one with many questions about storage--check it out! However, I have long thought that the perfect combination for a home stager would be to own a resale/consignment shop. You could get one with some storage in the back, and then have a perfect way for easily refreshing and restocking your inventory, and selling off your older pieces!

If it's great rent then I say go for it.  I am eye-spying a location close by that would have a similar set up.  Definitely keep us posted.

Also a great way to build awareness.  Perhaps you could even sublet to a complimentary biz?  Great way to think outside of the "storage" box!

It is a good idea for someone who is constantly turning over inventory.

Hi Chris, Let us know when you get up and running with this, I love this idea. Sounds like a good reason to take a road trip and come over your way and visit you and your new store front!

It depends on what the rent would be; if the rent is anywhere NEAR the rental of the of a storage unit that you would need, I would absolutely go for it!  I would love to have a store front/office/store/warehouse space to further professionalize (is that a word???) my business, but just can't afford it now.  A large storage unit is the best I can do. Let us know what happens.

Thanks guys!

Donna I would love to host an Open House! ALL WELCOME! Heck you might even buy something! LOL!

Cheryl Awareness is a hidden benefit! If you don't think I will use this a marketing tool! I see Story boards with "Why staging works" OH YA!

Kristina  One of my biggest fears is that I get known for the same old furniture. This is a way I can keep it new! I want to keep on top of my game! I see so many home owners copy my rooms. I guess I can take that as a compliment.

Susan Thanks!

Kathy I will keep you all posted!

I had to share a picture with you all!

It is a start! Thanks for looking!

As long as it works with your overhead, go for it! Make sure you can figure out how much ROI you can generate with this storefront idea.

Cheers,

Cindy

I wish we could rent 2500 sq ft for $300/mo in my area -- but it would be more than $1,200/mo here.  You are SO lucky!
