Katerina Gasset and I had a great conversation over the weekend. She introduced me to a very new concept: Law of Abundance. Interesting enough that I have to turn it into a blog.
We talked about the Power of (First) Accepting and Believing that life is an abundance. She quoted an example of how - if focused on the "bad things", "bad things" will happen. She said if I kept reflecting on the negative side, the negative will happen. You see, I told her this statement, "I dont spend money I dont have".... Wow. Indeed, it was such a negative statement all around. I didn't even realize that. I thought I was being a financial conservative small business owner. I attract what I believe. If I believe about the "money I dont have", naturally the money wont come.
We also talked about the scarcity mentality. Alot of what consumers are reacting today is because of this idealogy. The media have instill FEAR into our lives quite successfully. Many agents feel that if they didn't pick up that phone call, that that they might miss that next best thing. If they didn't work that weekend, that that client might call a different realtor. All of that mentality is FEAR. I do have my own build-up of personal emotions about this and after this phone conversation, I will slowly work on it. It will take time though. It cant just happen overnight.
I have an interesting story to tell about the Power of Believing. Back when I was a part-time real estate agent for 4.5 years, I didn't really know how to generate leads other than word of mouth. It produced income, but I had a dark side. I attracted these clienteles because I rebated them at closing. Yikes and shucks. But that was all I knew to attract clients. After I decided to become full-time and of course with the help of my-then real estate coach, Ms. Jennifer Allan, we worked on building my confidence and changing my mentality. I think if Jennifer reads this blog, she would totally concur that my early emails to her and when compared to the later ones at the end of the coaching period, she would say that I was a whole new person. I walked out of that coaching session (a period of 1 year) with a bag full of confidence and beliefs that I can.
When I was doing "it", I knew that was bad and unhealthy to my pocketbook. I worked so hard, yet others want a bite of my paycheck. But I didn't know better. Today, if that was what my clients want, I would refute it and say that I am not the agent they are looking for. Thank You Very Much for the opportunity but I need to move on mentality. I really cant say when my "mentality/ confidence" took that 180 degree turn. But I know it happened.
Today, I see my value. I see how my presence in my client's transaction makes THAT difference in their lives. And yes, I have no shame or guilt in accepting that paycheck (reward for hardwork). Over the years, I have taken the time in studying my markets, previewing neighborhoods, educating myself, monitoring every transaction in my city. I take PRIDE in knowing my areas like the back of my hand. I dont just happen to stumble upon it. I made that CONSCIOUS effort in becoming the best for my clients. In the past, I might have just believe that real estate agents make a lot of money for services they didn't perform. I might not have met the right agents at that time, so I built a wrong mentra about this profession.
So, yes, my transformation of "believing" is surreal. I cannot describe it in words. But if you have gone through what I went through, you would know what I am describing. I need to continue to work on my "issues". It will take time. But it will be worth it.
The Law of Abundance: First Accept, Then Believe and Get Ready To Receive.

I believe there is a lot of truth behind the Law of Abundance, Law of Attraction, etc. We all can operate at a much higher level when we are positively focused. I also believe that our behavior can be contagious. If we tend to be in good spirits, it can help to raise the spirits of those around us. Likewise, if we are in bad spirits, we can bring the mood down of those around us. Ultimately, in my opinion, there is a lot of truth in the old adage you can accomplish many things when you put your mind to it.
