Ulster Park is located in the Town of Esopus- just south of the City of Kingston and minutes from New Paltz and Poughkeepsie. It offers beautiful views of the Hudson River to the east and mountains to the west.

Apple Bin

With a several weeks of summer left and autumn just around the corner, this is the perfect time of year to visit. It’s the home of several pick-your-own fruit farms- like Maynard Farms and Orchard where you can pick apples and pumpkins. The Apple Bin is a road side market where you can buy fresh fruit and veggies, delectable baked goods, and local syrups, jams, and ciders. (My husband can’t drive past without running in to grab a muffin and coffee!!!)

Even if you’re not a wine aficionado you’re sure to find something you’ll like at El Paso Winery. Not sure if you want a Merlot or Cabernet? The winery is open Wednesday-Sunday for free wine tastings.

Klyne Esopus Museum

You can also learn more about the rich history of the area. From the native Esopus Indians, to the early Dutch settlers of the area, to modern times, you’ll find information about it all at the Klyne Esopus Museum. It’s located in the old Dutch Reformed Church, which was built in 1827 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

Headless Horseman Hayride

During the months of September and October, one of the most popular attractions in the area is the Headless Horseman Hayride. Named #1 hayride in the country by several magazines- this is so much more than just a hayride. Located on more than 45 acres, it includes the haunted hayride, 3 haunted houses, a corn field maze, an eerie magic show, and several stores and gift shops. Headless Horseman was designed and built by professionals in the lighting, special effects, costume, make-up, sound and set design industries. The attraction opens this year on September 20, but if you plan to visit, make sure you make a reservation- it’s often sold out. 845-339-2666.

29 Hudson Lane Ulster Park NY

And if you’d like to make Ulster Park your home- check out my parents’ house. Listed at $399,908, this house is just 5 years young- and priced to sell. The open floor plan is great for family and friends. All three bedrooms are enormous. On cold winter nights, snuggle up before one of the 2 fireplaces- one in the living room, the other in the master suite. Speaking of the master suite- it also includes a large walk-in closet, a full bath with 2 vanities, and a large shower dual shower heads. In the summer, sit on your front porch or your back deck,, and enjoy the family of deer that live in yard. Click here to see a virtual tour
