The first week of July was a busy week for my husband and me.  We had decided that we wanted to move to North Carolina, so I made contact with Elizabeth Nieves to show us around the Durham/Research Triangle area.

What a delightful time we had!  And Elizabeth is just as she seems on AR.  Caring, knowledgable, helpful, funny, geniune and a true kindred spirit!

We toured many homes, talked for what seemed like years, and both of us came away feeling like we had been elementary school pals.  There was a familiarity there that was uncanny.

I have to tell you, I did not get any photos of she and I together.  Shame on me!  But in some of our "down time" we did manage to get some photos of the area.  I hope you enjoy a walk through the Duke Gardens on the grounds of the awe-inspiring Duke University.

A peaceful oasis in the midst of a bustling setting.

The path to a mind-settling and peaceful experience. Lined with roses, roses, roses.

Nature at its finest.  In the middle of town,    but so serene.

Stunning!  The photos certainly don't do

justice for these beautiful roses.

     Peaceful.  There's no other words.

A great place to meditate, reflect

Chris - We all had a GREAT time.  I am so excited to be moving down there.  And since most all things are falling into place pretty easily I can't help but think it was meant to be.  Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Carol,
I am so happy to hear that you and Elizabeth hit it off so well and enjoyed your time together.  Aren't the Duke gardens incredible?

Gorgeous photos....didn't you recently move to Ohio? I think NC is absolutely gorgeous!

Carol - that area is truly beautiful.  I'm very giddy about moving down there.  Kind of like a kid on an adventure!

Joan - I know, I know ... LOL  But we were so busy and running around and looking at houses and ... it was crazy - but in a good way.  And Elizabeth is doing well.  The girls are settling in and all is right with her world.

Carole - It's always great to meet others from AR, but it's a triple treat when you can feel an automativ "fit" and there is no cause for being guarded because everyone already feels like age old friends.

Cynthia - Those gardens were magnificent!  Can't wait to go back through them and spend much more time.  It was odd with Elizabeth and me.  We were in an instant bond and chattered like schoolgirls about EVERYthing under the sun.  She and I could get in some serious trouble if left to our own devices.  LOL

Colleen - Thanks!  No, didn't move to Ohio recently.  Got here about 8 years ago.  But now NC is calling my name.  I just know there are great things in store for me and mine when we get there.  And you're always welcome to come visit!

Danny - I really felt bad when our week together was over and I realized we had not taken one single photo of us together.  LOL  One of the strangest things of all was that we have very similar hair color, done in the same style and the same length.  I'm a little taller, but she and I really looked more like sisters than anything else!  It was spooky!  But in a good way.

My father-in-law grew up in NC.  He even planned on playing football for Duke, but then at the last minute decided to go to UNC.  He moved to Houston in 1960s.

Beautiful pictures.  Thank you for sharing!! I have never been to NC, but one of these days.... :)

These are magnificent photos! Especially the one with the bridge, makes me think of the shire in the Lord of the Rings movies! My youngest brother was born in Hendersonville, NC (western portion of the state in the Appalachian Mountains) and I haven't been back in since I was a teenager.

Sonia - You will have to look me up if you visit North Carolina.  It is absolutely beautiful!

Rich - You should stop back by one of these days.  Give me a call and we can do lunch!  But it might be better to wait till we actually get moved....Duh!  LOL
