Charlotte in Charlotte NC

I recently commented on one of my light rail articles about our cat theme here in Charlotte and then someone else wrote a post about the different 'cat' names that we have already used for sports teams, transportation, etc.  Well, when I commented on her post, I told her about my cat!  Now I love animals of all kinds but, my husband told me the one thing that broke my heart just before we got married is that he hated cats!  Well, I was just devistated, thinking that I could NEVER live knowing that I'd never be able to have a cat again!

Queen of Charlotte

About 4 birthdays ago, my hubby asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told him that a 'free' gift would be great!  I told him to take the boys to the vet's office or the pound and find us little kitten--that was ALL I wanted!  He told me that there would never be a way that I'd ever have a cat and then he surprised me and came home with one!  She was the cutest, tiniest little thing and she quickly fit right into our household!  Our little dog loved her and we all enjoyed watching her antics and just being a kitten.

You OUT, ME in!
While a kitten, she became incredibly attached to my husband!  Imagine that! The one who hated cats has now got this little kitten waiting at the door for him when he gets in from work and riding around on his lap until he goes to bed! Then she curls up beside him to sleep.  Huh?  Could we ever be totally wrong about our feelings about something or someone?!

She is no longer small but, she IS the QUEEN!

You OUT, ME in!!  Charlotte hates it when her dog, Barney, is outside and she is 'stuck' indoors!

Barney & CharlotteWell, I'd like to introduce you to the Queen of the Maxwell house!  Her name is Charlotte!  Even though she wasn't MY cat for long, at least I got to name her!!  She is the sweetest cat in the world and thinks that she is a dog!  She goes to the door when the doorbell rings and actually wants to be around people!  So, Teresa Harris, meet Debe in Charlotte's cat, Charlotte!  We're contributing to Charlotte's cat theme--in reverse!

The photo to the right is NOT posed!  Our Lhasa Apso, Barney, LOVES Charlotte and often lays beside her with his paw on her so that if she moves, he can get up and follow!  They're just best buds!

Debe

Looks like Charlotte and Barney are best of friends; it also appears the Charlotte has the run of the home

Good luck and success

I miss my kitty.  She was about 15 years old and passed away about two months ago.  The dogs and her got along great.  Your Queen is beautiful.

Nannette:  I LOVE my Charlotte!  She is the sweetest thing--I can't imagine losing my cat.  I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.  Isn't it amazing how well they get along with the canine species when introduced to them when they're young?

Awe! Debe they are soooooooooooo cute.  Thanks for sharing your pictures. How old was Barney when Charlotte was adoped? It is so nice when everyone can get along (including Ray!). I guess his thought about cats have changed?? These fur babies have a way of melting hearts.

Thanks to Ray for saving a life!

Teresa:  Thanks!  You're the inspiration for this post!  Actually Charlotte was the first to be adopted, then our little dog of 12 years died and we got Barney a little over a year ago.  He is a wild child compared to our old dog--we don't remember our old dog being this hyper EVER!  We didn't know how she'd take to a new puppy but, she welcomed him pretty quickly.  Gotta love those furry things!

Kelly:  Thanks!  Barney absolutely ADORES his cat!  He does that so that while he's sleeping, if she gets up, he can be awoken and follow her!  He follows her like a 'lost puppy' all the time!

Oh, come on, Debe. I know Barney is a stuffed dog, right? Dogs and cats don't like each other. LOL

Hey Debe! These are the most precious pictures and your story is heartfelt. What a surprise when your hubby brought home that kitty! Hubby's can be so sweet! I am an animal lover too. I prefer dogs to cats, but, really I love them all! Great post... Thanks!

Jim:  LOL!  He's cute enough to be stuffed but, he's madly in love with my little Charlotte!  It is the cutest, oddest thing you've ever seen!

Callie:  Now THERE'S that signature!  I love it!  I like the more bold color than mine--it looks rather bland to me now that I've seen yours!

Yes, I was SO surprised and thankful at the same time!  I had wanted a cat for years but, he just kept saying how much he hated them and he thought his mother had told him that he was allergic!  I told him he was full-of-it but, that I would just be sad with no kitty!  Anyway, my dog and my cat get along great but, the funny thing is that the cat LOVES my hubby now more than me!  How can that be?! ;-)
