Anyone out there a fan of the game BlackJack?  I always enjoyed this game from the moment my father taught it to me as a youngster.  We used to play against each other and when I first learned it I used to hate having a push.  If you are not familiar with the game, a push is when you tie the other player.

Over the years, I have learned that a push is actually a good outcome.  In the game of blackjack a push against a dealer in Las Vegas is not a loss of your bet.  That is a good outcome because the house has a edge over you.

So where am I going with this?

Well,  business for me over the last 13 months have been a push for me.  I am not losing any money but I am not really getting ahead either.  It's really just been a push.  I do feel this has been a great outcome or even an excellent outcome.  While I have had many pushes, it has allowed me to continue to play the game I enjoy.  While other players are losing their shirts and calling in their losses, I am still playing.  If I was sitting at a blackjack table right now I would be ahead.  When the market bounces and it will I can increase my bets and beat the house.

Now is the time to ride out the storm and forge ahead.  Now is the time to buy that bigger home if you can make it happen.  Now is the time to buy those investment properties.  Why?  because right now its a push

A push is good for most in this market.  Black jack is a fun game!  Good analogy.

Hi Gary,

You are definitely right about that.  I am hustling a lot more for that push but when the market changes I am going to be ready to roll.

Live for another day!

For many in the business, this is a period of just  treading water. But when the market picks back up, look out.

I'll take a push when I see so many people losing.  I know so many Realtors who are selling their homes and going into rentals.

Gary... I also love the analogy. Kind of funny, I just wrote about something similar to this, but with another twist. Not to brag or rub this in, but that I am actually doing better this year than I did in the last 2 years prior to 2008, most of the reason is because of AR and because of blogging. But I could relate to this last year and more so, in 2006.

Also, I need to get back to playing blackjack. I love the game... or is it the addiction of winning and winning money.. lol

Gary - agreed. I know nothing about Blackjack, but I do know a lot about pushing ahead. Sometimes it's the one additional step that makes all the difference.
