Beat the Heat in Addison, Texas!
Of course Addison has all the usual ways to beat the heat with water, but there are other ways in town to stay cool, too.
The obligatory water sources include both the indoor and outdoor pools at the Addison Athletic Club, where any Addison resident can become a member for a one-time $10 fee that is good for as long as the resident lives in the city.
You can watch the ducks
and swans float along in the man-made lake in the Les Lacs subdivision.
Or enjoy the many fountains throughout Addison, such as the one on Beltline Road at Winwood where the gazebo is frequently the setting for bridal pictures; or the fountains and shallow pools at Addison Circle, home of the massive Blueprints sculpture.

If you want to stay dry and cool:
Visit Addison Square Garden, an ice rink on Midway Road just north of Belt Line. It is closed for renovations, but is scheduled to reopen on August 22nd.
Enjoy some edible frozen treats at Berry Berry, on Beltline Road, just west of Midway.
Watch a current first run movie at the Addison Studio Move Grill, corner of Beltline and Prestonwood, and grab a meal while you watch.

Into comedy? The Improv, at 4980 Belt Line Road, is where you can have your funny bone tickled in air conditioned comfort.
Shopping? Did you say shopping? There are lots of stores (all with conditioned air) to choose from. For example, Village on the Parkway at the south east corner of Belt Line and the Tollway has a wide selection of shopping experiences, from day spas and nail salons to Kittrell Riffkind, an upscale art glass studio, to the anchor, Bed Bath & Beyond. And don't forget the shops along Addison Circle.
Sometimes, the best way to beat the heat is to just stay home and sit under your ceiling fan!
