I recently ran a search on realtor.com, for a homes in Chicago IL between $60,000 and 175,000. The results came in with 6,917 results. There were an additional 1,259 results for homes below 60k (however I would only recomend those homes for investores)
The point I'm making here is that at 6.5% on a 30 year fixed your payments would only be $379 per month (on $60,000)- $1106 per month (on $175,000)
acording to http://www.mynewplace.com the avrage 2 bedroom apratment in Chicago is $1969 per month.
Look how much cheeper it is to own rather then rent!
