Are you working with the best broker?

Real Estate Agent with WNY Realtor

So one of the first things I quickly learned in Real Estate is that you work as an independent broker...not as an employee of the company!  I know this sounds naive but after working for 10 years for a company as an employee it is a very different concept.  We have the choice to surround ourselves with the best people we can.  The best trainers, support staff and most successful mentors possible...what a difference from just trying to find a job that pays the best.

Your success in this business will be so dependent on who you choose to surround yourself with.  Just like our mothers always told us...you are who you hang around with.  The difference in Real Estate is that not only do you need to surround yourself with successful people..but with people who are willing to teach and guide you.  I have been lucky to land myself at a brokerage with not only successful people in the Buffalo, NY market but with supportive and knowledgeable people who will not hesitate to answer any question I may have.  I had an experience recently when an agent who wanted to make an offer on one of my listings called me to set up an apt to write up an offer.   It was not that he was a bad Real Estate agent but that he seemed like he had no one to go to for help in his own company:(

It really does make a difference who you CHOOSE to work for and who you surround yourself with not only to yourself but to your buyers and sellers.  I only say this because I am so appreciative of all of the knowledge and support I have been able to acquire with my brokerage.  If you aren't as successful as you want to be is it because you aren't doing the right things or you aren't in the right place?
