Active Rain is the best online networking venue ever! Testimonies abound from making money, learning more than you did in College, getting referrals and creating the most wonderful people.

The icing on the cake is when you get to meet each other in person. After reading each others' blogs, emailing and talking on the phone you really know each other so when you meet in person it is just as if you are getting together with a good friend that you have not seen in a long time.

This was the experience we had when we met Mike Norvell for lunch in Wellington last week. We met at Panera Bread in Wellington. What's not to like about Pinera, right? Nestor, myself and our son met with Mike Norvell, a member of Active Rain who works with Developer Capital Realty, LLC and his business associate Rick Blount with Blount Development Group.

Mike is a very nice, kind and caring person just like he is on his blog. It never ceases to amaze me how we connect offline and how much we truly already know about each other. Nestor had spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Mike before we met as well.

We got together for business. This was a business meeting about putting together some investment deals here in South Florida. There is no one better for this part of the business than Nestor Gasset. He really knows this stuff, much more than I ever will. Nestor has his pulse on the market very well. In BNI they used to call him the Nostradamus of real estate. I can toot his horn because I am his wife and partner in business.

Last year we had the wonderful opportunity over the Thanksgiving holiday to meet and have lunch with Brian Block and his wife. You can read about our Active Rain meeting by clicking here.

We will get the chance to meet many of the Active Rain members at the Active Rain party at the 2008 NAR convention in Orlando Florida November 7th to 10th. We will keep you updated about the party details.

It is always a risk. Knowing someone just from his/her writings and meeting face to face is a totally different experience.

So far looks like it worde and you enjoyed the experience. That's good

What a nice post Katerina! That's what AR is about, forging relationships in helping each other. Panera Bread is one of my favorites too...

Good evening Katerina,

That's a great point.  The internet has changed how business works!  For example, I've never met a single one of my clients face to face.  I consider them my friends.  I just haven't had the opportunity to meet them yet.

Katerina, except for some of my local Active Rain friends (Pat Kennedy, Margaret Woda, Cindy Jones, James Downing, Frank Llosa), you and Nestor were the first out-of-town Rainers that I met and it was great!  Now, after attending Inman in NYC in January and SF last month and several other local events in between, I've lost count of how many Active Rain members I've met and spent time with.  Dozens for sure.  Probably near 100.  Always great!  I'm sure you are looking forward to NAR in November.  I'm still undecided on that one.

I have personally met only a few members of our local community. We need to include this in our community bylaws. That good that you do get together. For now I will enjoy the online interaction.

Katerina, It's always nice to meet a fellow "rainer" or even just speak to someone new on the phone!  I'm glad you had a chance to and get business done as well.  And thank you for the advice, I took it :)  I always appreciate your help.

Hey Guys.....It was a nice meeting!...What really came out of the meeting for me was just how connected you and Nestor are in your area. I and Rick were very impressed with how this first meeting came off, and we have great confidence that when the REO packages roll out we will be confident  in your teams ability to handle the local properties in a profitable and efficient manner.

I know that most of us here get a feel for the warmth and integrity of Katerina because of her blogging here on Active Rain, but I would suggest that anyone wanting to do business in the Wellington Fl area should call and talk to Nestor as well. He is great to talk to, both personal as well as proffessional, and really has a great handle on the area.

We did enjoy the lunch, and apreciate you both for taking time out of your busy day to meet with us. This next week or two will be busy in working out the details on the financial side with our investment partners, and we also have tons of issues to deal with on basic infrastructure, websites, forms, and other required paperwork.  It was really nice meeting, and we have certainly made the decision to work with you both without hesitation.. See you soon

What a great post and experience.  Thanks for sharing.  I too have so many Rainers that I would love to meet one day.  Some are as far away as California and New York, but I am not giving up on my desire to sit down face to face and meet these wonderful people.  So kind and generous and they make this a GREAT social networking site.

Mike- Thank you! We look forward to a very rewarding and prosperous working relationship with you and your investors. Let us know if there is anything you need on our end. What a wonderful place AR is, and Nestor is the Nostradamus of real estate in these parts:) That's what they say about him around here anyway.
