This morning one of my favorite video blogs I subscribe to is Wallstrip did a video on Twitter.Wallstrip describes them as a place where Wall Street meets pop culture and they do videos of up and coming and current stocks.
Twitter is not currently being sold as a stock, but they have just had a 15 million dollar investment to add more staff and servers. (Sound familiar?)
Twitter has grown by 600% since it first launched the micro blogging (140 characters) site, asking the simple question, "What are you doing?"
Monty Metzger's blog has a list of all he corporate sponsors using Twitter. One of the corporate companies using Twitter is Comcast. I already shared my experience with using Comcast via Twitter to get help. Since then we have had to use them again, when we found out on a thread that some email was not going out based on Comcast using the 25 port for outgoing email. Once again, they jumped in and helped out via Twitter.
There is a Twitter group on Activerain, started by Maureen Francis that is a good group to join here, if you are using Twitter and want to learn more about it. Mike Mueller posts a weekly update on Twitter here on Activerain too that is definately worth a read.
Just joined as well! Very cool! Thank you, Missy! I do so enjoy Tweetsville and have already had a great laugh with a mini-recap post on (eye candy?) garnishments. :-D
@Missy: Sometimes I think I need to take a weeks vacation and dedicate the time soley to catching up with Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and all of the networking and technology areas that I just can't seem to find time to fit in.
Missy--I saw a report on TV that many progressive companies are now monitoring Twitter for any comments realizing that the internet can quickly pass on negative info. Resolving an issue just as quickly can turn negative publicity into positive just as fast...I had made a mental note to become more involved with Twitter but haven't yet...Thanks for the reminder! :)
Missy I am learning about this new stuff. I can't seem to get caught up and I sometimes feel like I'm walking around blindly and then trying to sell real estate too... it is a lot for this little real estate agent to do in one day.
Ya know... if the question was asked "what are you doing" over the phone is a breathy voice..... well you would be going down a whole different path
:)
Missy, Love using Twitter- 140 characters is about all I speak, a little upset tho, updates to my phone end up locking up the phone- don't know why that is.
Missy- hadn't heard of them but I have to laugh at Dez's comment :) And I know Nannette is trying hard to do all these things...she already has me trying to figure out Technatori.......
Missy, Ok, I guess I am just going to jump into Twitter. I just joined the group, and now need to hit Twitter:) I"m so glad you posted this, as I had no idea we had a Twitter group here on AR! I'll be looking for you on Twitter!!!:)
Missy, By golly I just figured out Twitter, well, sort of! I did find you, so I am now a new stalker of yours, lol. I'm elizabethgolden on Twitter. I also found Kim. Whooo hoo. I'm off to the races now! See you over there someday!
Thank you Missy. I am using twitter and I like the clever pics and short posts that some of my twitter friends are using. Some are very funny and take the stress out of the day! I am also using it for marketing as I add something positive about the RE market from time to time.
Lik ur nu pic!
Thanks for sharing the update about twitter with us. I am not using twitter but have been learning and hearing great things about it. At first I didn't get it, even wrote a little something about it, but as people like you share the benefits, it is starting to become clear why people really like Twitter.
Missy.,.... thanks for the info... I did set up Twitter a while back... but haven't really been back on it since. That and a few other sites are some that I need to get going with. Not so much to chit chat, but just to get my blogs out there.
Question... what do you use Twitter for, the most? What benefits do you see?
Overall, people keep making comments that they hear great things about Tweeter... besides having fun and keeping in touch with people, what is it's best asset? best reason to tweet? thanks
Randall, Yes unfortunately I do and then standing at the copy machine and copying listings, then faxing them out. Those were the days...why am I busier now and things are more automative?
Elizabeth, I am @missycaulk Big surprise, find me and follow me.
Dessssssssssssssssssssssssssss you're right and ROFLMAO I'd probably hang up thinking it was an obscene phone call.
Jeff,I syndicate my posts to Twitter, chat with friends and follow Ann Arbor people, plus all the news on Michigan through several new services.
MaryJo, no clue I use a BB and can follow up to 10 tweets at a time and that is it, so sorta hard to jump in, but I do. I downloaded twitberry for the blackberry.
Hi Missy, I have a Twitter account but rarely have time to Twit. Actually ABC World News Tonight did a feature a week or two ago on how quickly Comcast responded to a customer complaint that was posted on Twitter. It's great for getting attention from customer service!
I am occasionally on Twitter, and I do have my RSS feed from my AR blog posting my public stuff there. I hadn't heard on Wallstrip before - interesting.
I was recently contacted by a columnist for the San Francisco Real Estate Blog who happened to be writing a story for Real Estate Executive Magazine on "agents who use twitter." He found that I was one of very few agents who are catching on to this growing new interactive 'tool.' He then was kind enough to comment further on my blog and 30 second TV spot which I am currently running on cable networks sucj as TLC and Bravo, to name a few. He generously offered to post it on his blog. So, it goes to show how these new forms of technology such as twitter can not only be used as a tool for interacting with clients but it's also a wonderful way to simply add another element of 'presence' on the net and way to distinhuish yourself from the pack. Check out his blurb at::
Hi Missy - I went to join the Twitter group and discovered I'd already joined. I did like reading about Comcast on Twitter - I'm going to go find them so I can follow them in case I ever need help from them again. Thanks for that tip.
marti, comcast definately solved two problems with me, it was FANTASTIC, who knows who I would have got on line. @comcastcares.
Ann @comcastcares
Trish, how cool is this ???
AJ, sign up on line for it to feed your posts here on Activerain. Even if you are not online it will automatically send it when you post. I did it for all my blogs. Many folks like twhirl, I tend to like twitbin. Have a got ya confused? More and more apps are coming out daily.
I kinda got away from Twitter. I just don't have that kind of time on my hands. I tried but I can't keep up and still keep up with The Rain. I guess I've only got one social network in me at this point in my life. I think I will join the group just to keep up with all of YOU, TWOAR :)
TWL, the last two months I have not been able to be on as much either. There is only 24 hours in a day, and as I use to go to bed at 10:00 that has been extended. Of course I am on here the most and if I had to chose, well............................
