Moncks Corner SC Real Estate Statistics

Moncks Corner is a quaint little town on the outer edge of the Charleston SC metropolitan limits.  It is about an hours drive to downtown Charleston and the beaches.  But, most people who live here will tell you that they are not interested in downtown Charleston and its area beaches as much as they are the quite neighborhoods, lower priced houses, the sportsman's nirvana of hunting and fishing on and around Lake Moultrie.  Below are the housing market statistics for Moncks Corner in 2008.

Note:  the August sales are only up to the 10th day of the month.

Hi Michael,

I enjoy your blog.

How does Monck's Corner compare to Summerville, - the town, atmosphere etc...? Or are they totally different.

Moncks Corner is a smaller town than Summerville.  In 2006 Moncks Corner only had 6500 people in the city while Summerville, which is one of the larger towns in SC, had 42,000.  A large portion of Summerville is inhabited by the great men and women currently in the military (primarily Air Force) or retirees of the military.  One of the many struggles Summerville is facing is traffic congestion, as the road space is not always sufficient for the ever growing population.  If your looking for small town atmosphere, Moncks Corner is the way to go, but if your looking atmosphere that is not too small and not too big, Summerville is just right.  That is just one of the reasons people in the Charleston metro choose to live there.  The other reason is the ever popular Dorchester II district schools in Summerville.
