I just got a new blackberry and I am learning all of the great things that go with it..... But, I have one part that I hate!... setting up the voice mail, what do I say? "hello, my name is Jack, I need listings and buyers and just about anything related to Real Estate" or do I just beg? Writing a scrip has to be professional, after spending a few hours on the Internet tonight, I found a group call Pro Voice Greeting, they are a company that provides professional level of greetings. They also provide an upload to your voice mail. I still don't like to hear my voice and I still hate setting up voice mails...any suggestions???? Please...I guess I am begging.

Jack,

Go with professionals, it would sound great, and that's what you may want. Not many greetings sound decent, why experiment with that?

Won't callers not hear your voice on the greeting and think they dialed the wrong number?

Jack, I haven't tried the professionals, but I do feel your pain.  I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than my own voice!

Look....practice and make it YOURS!  I think folks who call you would hang up if they heard another voice.  How bad can it be??

Whatever you decide to do, keep it short. I hate listening to long recorded voicemails saying call them here and there, go to their website, send an email and on and on. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your new BlackBerry...lucky dog.

Jack, I think you have to bite the bullet and make the voice mail announcement. Everyone thinks they sound terrible the first time they hear their voice on a recording. This is just natural. Your clients hear your voice everyday.

Jack, if you don't have it figured out by Thursday, I will be at the Board office in Springfield for the SRS class, stop by and I will record one for you.  "This is Cheryl from........Jack is not available right now he is busy working on a development project in Mt Vernon...leave a message."

LOL I honestly like the begging idea.  I use evoicereceptionist.  It is recorded by studio professionals and I can forward calls to three different people to ring simultaneously until someone picks up.  LOVE IT!

Above all, the most important thing is to tell them to TALK SLOW.

Or to REPEAT THEIR NUMBER TWICE.

It drives me crazy when someone calls and I have no idea what they said, who they are, or what all seven digits of their phone number actually are.

Then they're mupset when I don't return their call.

GO figure.
