It Looks Like Google Has Some Good Competition!!! Check Out These Search Engines!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Homes Arizona Real Estate LLC

I was listening to the news the other day when something was mentioned about a new search engine. I've wanted to share the news 'cause after checking it out......especially Cuil.com, I was fascinated. My daughter had told me about another one, SearchMe.com so I checked that one out as well.  Since I am using Firefox, one of the options at the top of the search page is which search engine to use. I'll cut and paste the "look," here for all to see. What else would I search for...., but - you got it, Teri Ellis, Realtor. See what turned up - 488 results! I can only show you a snippet, but you get the idea. Let me know what you think!

One of the things that is interesting to me on Cuil.com is the idea that it picks up comments made by me as well as others, and all sorts of information from my stand-alone blog, my websites, obviously posts on Active Rain, and more.

SearchMe is like a book...it opens pages which are kinda cool. Very graphically appealing.

WARNING, be SURE to spell CUIL.com right....; otherwise, an adult site pops up. Oops....

Thomas, you're probably right...; however, as a consumer, this might become a good search engine. ;-)

Hey Teri, glad you found some alternatives to search engines.  You know I was a beta tester for Searchme about a couple months ago.  I definitely liked the Visual Search Engine effect and was amazed on how much private funding they got so quick.  I feel though Searchme is still lightyears behind Google and other top search engines as far as function and formula goes but investors think that searchme will be picked up by either Google Or Msn for the platform.

Cuil.com or Cool as they pronounce it has caught my eye as well.  The original Google Brains created this new search engine and is claiming to have more indexed pages than Google (Researchers found this false recently) now I like the concept of Ex-Google employees wanting to make another search engine but as of right now they still fail to deliver indexed results, speed and proper formulas, who knows maybe in the future they might but I am definitely keeping my eye on these two.

Teri... How cool is that, I had to laugh because I got a result for Debbie Winters that was quite racy... Winters is my maiden name.

Thanks for the head up on spelling the name right. Don't want to make a mistake of mispelling the name while in front of a whole lot of people. I am definitely going to check it out. Thanks for sharing.

Callie, that's interesting...I wonder why? ;-)

Hey Justin, good to see you. Thanks for sharing and I would keep my eye on them as well. Definitely consumer friendly in my mind. ;-)

Debbie, be sure you don't type in Culi....'cause I did that accidentally...it's an adult site. ;-) So? You had another business before real estate, huh?

Terri, could you please tell me the name of the adult website that popped up? For informational purposes of course...

Just kidding! I checked out Searchme.com and it is way too cool! The only problem is, it shows a main page of a website I used to have several months ago, but of you click on it, my new site pops up! I was trying to get some one to design a website for me to do this very same thing.

Teri, searchme.com is AMAZING!  After searching for my name and getting an extremely accurate result, I feel so...relevant.  Cuil.com didn't give me the same results, but I did like the interface a lot.  I'm going to head off and explore these sites in greater depth.  Thanks for sharing these new resources!

Jennifer, you're welcome. I would imagine so....it seems as if you're number one, someone will work very hard to pass you up. ;-)

Michael, I think the other search sites will offer other benefits....so there will be more competition in the market. ;-)

I'm glad to see that Cuil is having success.  I didn't doubt that it would since the master-minds behind Google came up with this one as well.  I'm going to check out SearchMe right now to see what that one is all about.

Rich: I think there can be more than one good search engine out there. This way, we'll get choices. ;-)
