Go Team!

With the Olympics in full swing, I have been thinking a lot about how it all works.

We have Team America….People rally for our Olympic Contenders regardless of what the event is. Some are solo events such as boxing, racket sports or martial arts, but even they have a TEAM of people making sure they succeed in their endeavors. Trainers, nutritionists, sparring partners, all making sure this one person has everything at their disposal to be the best.

This brought to mind working as a Real Estate agent. As a Realtor, you are an Independent Contractor….BUT you are also part of a team! YOUR success depends on the support you get not just from your Management team, or Transaction Coordinator, but from your FELLOW AGENTS!

I looked up team sports in Wikepedia:

“Team sports are when a team works "together" as a unit.”
(Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_sports for full article).

Where does this leave you? Do you feel you’re on a team that has your best interest at heart? How do your fellow agents react when you have worked diligently to take a listing? Do they rally around you and show up to your Broker Open? When your listing sells, what kind of response do you get? The obligatory “Congrats” or do people go up and high five you and are genuinely happy for you?

One of the big ticket items for agents leaving an office and joining another is apathy. People showing up, going through the motions with no joy in what they do.

They suck the “happy” out of you because they’re not doing so well, instead of cheering you on and being happy that their TEAM is winning!

So I ask you, what does it mean to YOU to be a team player? What does it look like to YOU to be a part of TEAM? Do you sit in the stands oblivious to the game at hand, or do you root for your teammates from the bottom of your heart knowing that even though that’s not YOU on the court, it is YOUR team and YOU do make a difference?

A little something to think about!
