Last weekend, I had the opportunity to speak on a Blogging panel in Monterey, CA for CRS members. Specifically, I was asked to discuss ActiveRain and Localism. This all came about thanks to Pam Winterbauer who connected me with Mike Kelly, one of the panel moderators.

The guest speaker was Pat Kitano, from Domus consulting, also a fellow ActiveRain member. I've been following Pats Blog at Transparent Real Estate for quite some time now, and finally had the privilege of meeting him in person at the Inman Real Estate Connect in San Francisco.

During our break at CRS, I had the chance to talk to Pat in detail about what he's doing with Domus and what I've been doing at ActiveRain. Ironically, our conversation led to something that I have wanted to do here since I joined AR, Training and Coaching via Web-conferences and Webinars.

Well, before the CRS meeting and lunch were over, Pat and I had come up with a plan that could benefit many new members here that are just getting into Social Media Marketing and WEB 2.0. Here's what we have come up with for the upcoming Webinar Series.

I get a huge amount of emails and calls from members with these questions everyday, this is what motivated and inspired me to help provide a program like this. Since Pat has all the tools and pieces in place, he's allowing me to join forces with him, and put this on at a minimal price for ActiveRain members ONLY. It will average out to about $12.00 per webinar which will run for 1 hour on Friday mornings at 9:00am pst. We have setup a registration page just for AR members.

You'll learn some great information and come away with the tools and knowledge to be a WEB 2.0 Social Media Marketing expert. This will be a great road map to managing your time more effectively on the WEB. Reasons you should consider this opportunity:

  • It's half price to all ActiveRain members
  • You get recorded copies of ALL the webinars, even if you can't make it to some
  • It's only one hour per week at an average of 12.00 per webinar
  • You'll receive online support, manuals, instructions etc.
  • I'll be one of your follow-up trainers and support consultants

  • 90+ tutorials providing step-by-step instructions on the techniques of blogging and social media

I'm excited about joining Pat to provide these webinars to our members. They will become more popular as Industry Professionals try to gain the edge and obtain more knowledge about Social Media and Social Networking. With the cost of travel expenses, gas, hotel accommodations all going up, this only makes sense. Twelve bucks will barely get you three gallons of gas these days. This IS a great deal!

You can register below and join us this Friday for an online orientation. The Webinar series will start {EDIT} Friday - SEP. 5th @ 9:00am (see Pat's Comment below) We're not trying to sell you anything here, honestly, it's just an awesome opportunity to bring education and value to the community and to our industry. This WEB 2.0 stuff and Social Media Marketing is not going away.

Come join us, you won't regret it. :-))

Nick - this will be very valuable to anyone wanting to understand the "what and how" of our WEB 2.0 future.

Mana - one hour a week could save members tons of time and future frustrations, I'm looking to learn from these webinars as well.

Broker B - I know what she'll say...ROAR!!  lol~

Brian - I'll be there, looking forward to having you with us, you won't regret it.

Joan - I hope it will fit into your schedule, I too had to carve out some time for this, and I know others will have to also.  If we can show how to better manage our on-line Social Media and Networking time, then you'll have more of that FREE time to manage.  YEAH!!

Steve - no doubt.  There will be value even for the experts in these one hour sessions.  It's powerful stuff.

Petra - Pat and I are looking forward to seeing you there.  Just register using the AR link so you'll get the members discount.  The ones you miss, you can always get a video to review at your convenience.

AJ - that's the plan my friend.  It's totally worth it just for that.  Each member will get a video of the recorded webinar to have of their own.  I don't think people will be reblogging it till after they attend see that there really is value in these, then the posts will probably be heavily hitting the sphere.... then I'll be reblogging.

Hi Brad!
This sounds really cool, but being a 56 year old struggler just to keep up with the latest, I am a little intimidated by some of the classes.  Will I be wasting my money, or do you think I will learn and use a whole bunch of the latest "stuff"? (I know you don't have the perfect answer to this question, but if you could just tell me if a newbie can gleem something from these, I would be greatly appreciative.)

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the info, I'll plan on attending.

A question, was that the No. CA CRS Chapter you were refering to? You know several of us in the Rain are SoCal members including our Pres.-elect Marlene Bridges and Jeff Dowler is a current officer. Maybe we could put something on like that down here?

Margaret - It'll be ok if you can't make it to orientation, it's best if you can, but I understand your previous commitment. You won't want to miss the webinars when they start though.  You'll find that trying to catch up with these once you get behind can be a daunting task as they tend to reflect on what's learned in previous sessions.  I just want to make sure that it all makes sense and dollars in the end for members. Glad you'll be joining us. :-)

John - thanks for that endorsement and confirmation.  Working with and seeing Pat in SF and Monterey confirmed to me that this will be a worthy and valuable series.  We'd love to have you on board as well if you can make it. Your feedback and interactions are what make these webinars so powerful. Thanks again John.

Pamela - Awesome!  There will be way more than just (2) great minds on these sessions, We've got Kevin Boer as a presenter, and then we have all the great minds of members like yourself.  It just doesn't get much better than this.  I have been wanting to do these for so long, now it's finally happening and I can hardly wait.

This is cutting edge stuff, and the way of our future.  One day, this is how consumers will be watching YOUR presentations and the "How To's" of buying or selling a home.  Video and Webinars are fantastic technology.

Paula - now just wait a minute, age discrimination against yourself has no place in Social Media or in these webinar sessions.  In fact the opposite.  You're entitled and have earned the right to have first shot at this stuff. (wink wink)

Don't be intimidated by this at all.  You are a perfect candidate and exactly who these webinars are geared for.  Here's a chance for you to get your arms around this stuff, understand it, and use it for your business. It's just the same as learning about any other new tool that you knew could grow your profits.

You will definitely gleam something from these I promise.  People who are attending now are those who really WANT to understand the power of the Social Media and Networking phenomenon (BOOM), and how it will, is effecting the Real Estate Industry and their own personal business.

See you there.  :-)

Thom and Ray - you will receive an email with a link to the webinars within 24-48 hours of each session.  After that, you'll get your password and access information so you'll have access to everything I mentioned in this post.  Videos, slideshows, tutorials etc.  Trust me my friend, it will positively get your rain train going dow the right track.  Thanks for joining us, I am excited too.  I'll see you there.  :-)

BTW - will it be Thom, Ray, or both of you in these sessions? Let me know...

12:48pm • #30

Al - All the sessions will be recorded, you will be assigned a login and password to have access to them.  There are some other tools you'll have access to as well, so don't miss the first one. The orientation is important as it will cover many of the questions you may have or are seeing here.  Try your best is my advice.

Susie -  two words.. "Cancel Rotary"!"  just kidding, you'll have to decide that. :-)

It was great talking to you on the phone the other day, this is right up the alley of what we were talking about. Much of our discuusion is why I'm so excited about doing this.  The benefits will be huge as it relates to AR, Outside Blogs, and Localism.  Here's a chance for people to really "Get it", and in the comfort of their own homes or offices and in front of their computers.

Hope you'll be there, this may help you with some ideas and tools on how to benefit even more from your Rotary Social Network.

12:59pm • #32

Bo - I'm stoked!  When I asked Jon about this in the past, there was a great interest in doing something like this, but then Outside Blogs, Localism, Reblog, and Video came along.  Incredible how we've grown in just 3 months.  Just think where we'll be in a year!!  That's what makes these webinars so timely and important.  Until now, I just haven't had the time to put anything like this together. NOW IS THE TIME!  I'm very grateful to have Pat and Kevin's support, experience and knowledge in putting this on.  Fasten your straps, I'll see you Friday.  :-)

Let's touch base, there's some ideas I'd like to kick around if you're available this week.  Great hearing from you Lynda, give me a call.  :-))

Great advice. With so much great advice out there on-line, it's often hard to shell out money for something like this. I often find myself getting info that I have already heard. But I am thinking about this one...

Brandon - it's your call my friend.  No pressure, there's no sales pitch here. The reality is that you're right about there being so much information out there on the web. Maybe you've heard it all, maybe not.

Here's my thought for you:  Having a structure in place, a proven track record and history, and not having to go find all this stuff out there on your own and hope it's reliable and reputable, is a big factor in my opinion.

We've all heard the terms Social Media, Network Marketing, SEO, etc. but look how many places we've had to go and how many hours we've spent to research and try to discover the meaning and value of all this stuff??  There's no way you'll find all that will be covered in these webinars in that short of time and at that price.  It's absolutely impossible.

You're going to spend that money and time somewhere anyway, you might as well have something to really show for it.  In the end, who cares if you only learn 10 new things that make you thousands of dollars, wouldn't that make it worth it even if you had heard it somewhere before? Just something for you to ponder my friend!  :-))

4:48pm • #48

David - hopefully over at your place chasing raccoons away from the cats and drinking a cold one in the back yard with our laptops on your patio table sharing a good laugh amongst good friends.

See, I do have a plan here. LOL~  There's just too much in life I still have yet to see, one of those being every state in the Country and abroad.  You will definitly be on my non-virtual "world tour" for sure.  :-))

4:53pm • #50

Gary - sure there is, I can come up there and spend the 13 hours straight with you guys and no breaks!  :-))lol   This will be a great series for you (and Richard) to be a part of, I wouldn't say that if I didn't honestly believe it.  Thanks, I'll call you later today.

Brad and all,

Appreciate the warm response... if we have a critical mass on the East Coast, we'll be able to set up another session starting the first week of September on Fridays 10:00-11:00am EDT? (That's us getting up for a 7:00am here in CA, we're nightowls as opposed to bird chirpers). Please sign up at http://DomusConsultingGroup.com/ar and after your name add the words (East Coast 10:00) or variation thereof. If we can get together a critical mass we'll let you know.

Again, thanks to all, our mission is really to break open the current paradigm of stale classroom training that takes up too much time for trainers and their students, and those high priced face-to-face coaching extravaganzas. This first workshop is to show that coaching at webinar scale really works, and we're inviting all coaches and potential coaches to contribute to a variety of subjects (staging, video, foreclosures, investor workshops, etc.) in the future.

Pat - thanks for your flexibility and willingness to accomodate the East Coast members as well.

To clear up any possible or potential confusion, please post a comment here regarding the newly scheduled dates and times.  I know we have quite a few members signing up for this and a few might have been concerened about the upcoming Holiday weekend.  Also, the actual start date vs the orientation this Friday.

I have edited this post to reflect both, Thanks Pat.  :-)

If we are able to get enough EastCoasters registered, we'd be pleased to do an East Coast session as well. if your register, please note after your name if you prefer East Coast session from 10:00-11:00am EDT (Eastern time)...

The orientation went well this morning. Cleared up some house keeping items etc.  Before the sessions begin on Sept 5th, it's been suggested to get a head start and create a profile on LinkedIn, FaceBook, and Twitter.

Of course you should already have an ActiveRain profile setup, and you'll be good to go.  It was great seeing many of you today, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming sessions, there will be a lot of value and information shared at these webinars.

If you are still interested in joining, we still have some space available and since the actual 1st webinar won't start until Sept 5th, you can still get the special AR member discount until next week.  If you are interested and want to join us, I'll make sure you get in as long as you let me know or register by next friday.

Check your calendars, then your book of online business and see if this is really something you should consider.  Social Media marketing creates connections and leads, leads convert to business.

Brad, I missed this post somehow. This is perfect for me!  I am going to register but wanted to know if they are doing another "get acquainted" webinar, for those of us that missed it?  Thanks Brad!

Brad - You guys did a great job on the orientation and I can't wait for the program to get started.  It sounds like it is going to be excellent.

All - If you haven't signed up yet, I would definitely encourage you to do so.  Based on the first webinar, I think this program is going to be well worth the small fee.  Brad along with Pat and Kevin (Domus/Transparent Real Estate Guys) are encouraging the participants to start our own little social network.  Given that some of the other participants are great agents and bloggers it seems like just the networking opportunity is worth the price of admission.

"See" you on September 5th.

Elizabeth - we recorded the first session so once you register, you can get a video copy of the entire session.  The link to register is in the post above at the bottom of the page.  Looking forward to having you join us, thanks.  :-)

Al - it's great having you as part of this series, and I agree with you, just the networking portion is well worth the admission price but once we get into the webinar series, I think you'll find even more value than you would have ever expected.  See you when we start my friend. :-)

Seth - I didn't see you on the resgistration list, just be sure to sign up sometime this next week to get the AR member discount.  If you need anything or have any questions, just let me know.  It will be a fantastic series full of information and incredible networking.  :-)

Petra - if you know any other members in your area that are on AR and might benefit from this, can you let them know?  Lenders, appraisers, virtual assistance, other REALTORS® etc. will all come away with Social Media Marketing skillsets, just thought you might want to pass it on to your team of affiliates or other friends in the rain. Thanks for your help, and you bet I'll be on it!  You have my word on that. I'm looking forward to Sept 5th with great anticipation and excitement. :-))

Just FYI...the AR members discount has been extended until September 3rd, 2008

We have nearly 30 members already joining us.  I think we have room for about 10-20 more if you're  interested.  This will not only be a great webinar series, but a great networking group as well.

I Hope you'll join in and be a part of this ground breaking series here on AR.  :-))

Shucks!  I had to pull in all my outdoor stuff at my house and my vacant listings to prepare for TS Hannah so I missed it!  Can I still sign up for the rest of them?

Tina - you should be able to click on the link and still sign up. If you have any problems, let me know, I'll get you in there one way or another. :-))  Hope you'll be safe, and weather the storm.  I'm here if you need.  We'll pray for safe passage and protection from Hannah.

Todays 1st webinar series was a success, not a grand slam, but certainly a home run. See what one of our members had to say on her Featured post!

Brad - Enjoyed the webinar and already excited about this Friday. Hopefully with little less chaos bugs, but with 40+ attendees it wa a great success.

Petra - I think we got all the kaos and kinks worked out now.  We'll have to use the Q&A for questions, we can not get the chat area working for non presenters, but I'm ok with that and I think others will be too.  It can be a distraction anyways.  The rest of the series should be great.  Thanks for joining us, we're glad to have you.
