Receipts Management

By

Yes, you read it right!  Aren’t there days where you were looking for a specific store receipt and not able to find it?  Aren’t there days where you find your receipt everywhere in the house?  Reading this articles you will find a way to manage it with minimal time and least headache when you need to find a receipt.

Here is how:

Step 1. Identify a store that gives you the longest time from purchase to return an item.  In this example, I will use Walmart because they allow up to 90 days to return an item.  With this in mind, I have to keep my receipt for four months.

Step 2.  Create 4 envelopes (any size but big enough to hold 1 month worth of receipts) and label them as MONTH 1, MONTH 2, MONTH 3 and MONTH 4.

Step 3.  Let say you start this process in June 10.  Whenever you have a receipt, put it in MONTH 1.

Step 4.  When the end of June come, you take the receipt from MONTH 1 envelope and put it in MONTH 2 envelope.  From now on put all of your receipts in MONTH 1 envelopes.

Step 5.  When the end of July come, you take the receipt from MONTH 2 envelope and put it in MONTH 3 envelope.  Take the receipt from MONTH 1 envelope and put it in MONTH 2 envelope.  From now on put all of your receipts in MONTH 1 envelopes.

Step 6.  When the end of August come, you take the receipt from MONTH 3 envelope and put it in MONTH 4 envelope.   Take the receipt from MONTH 2 envelope and put it in MONTH 3 envelope.  Take the receipt from MONTH 1 envelope and put it in MONTH 2 envelope.  From now on put all of your receipts in MONTH 1 envelopes.

Step 7.  When the end of August come, you take the receipt from MONTH 4 envelope and put it in trash can.   Take the receipt from MONTH 3 envelope and put it in MONTH 4 envelope.  Take the receipt from MONTH 2 envelope and put it in MONTH 3 envelope.  Take the receipt from MONTH 1 envelope and put it in MONTH 2 envelope.  From now on put all of your receipts in MONTH 1 envelopes.

8.  Keeps that loop going and you will have a good method of managing your receipts.  I started the process, now my daughter (who is 10) taking care of this for me.

Good Luck!
