“We’re going to wait till the market gets a little better”

So yesterday I heard the following popular phrase.   “We’re going to wait till the market gets a little better”

So I said why? You’re a buyer in a buyers’ market. This is the market better.   Seriously what more could a buyer possibly be looking for? Quality homes at record low prices aren’t enough?

Why can’t some of these buyers see how great of market this is for them?  I blame the news. Every time you turn on the television all you hear about are the horrors of real estate, and people love doom and gloom stories.

It doesn’t matter to them if Donald Trump comes on Good Morning America and tells everybody that this is the time to buy. Thanks Craig. They don’t care. Even the CFO of the popular site Zillow.com can come out and say that this is a great time to buy. But they still don't care. I guess some people are just negative. Next!

There are some awesome buys out there right now. My market is about rock bottom right now and waiting will cost you.

You are right on the money. I think it always those folks who say I should have bought in 2008, do you know what these houses were going for back then. People never learn, do they.

Here's what you say to them.... "So what I hear you saying is you believe the market is bad, is that what you believe? I'm not going to tell you to wait for your(______) because I can show you that in the last (_____) days,(____) people within(____) square miles of your desired area have bought homes. I'm curious, what more proof would you need to show you this is a BUYERS market?" Hope this helps.

If I had a dime for every time I have heard that, I could retire to Cancun. Actually I am a Retired Nurse who sells Real Estate because she wants to not because she has to, but I digress. I had a client that I found an REO for almost half of price that it last sold for, at $285K. He was planning on offering $275K. But someone beat him to the punch. The Escrow fell through & now it is listed at $245K, & he wants to offer $230K. He just saved 30K but still wants to lowball offer. Geeezzzz

Claudia -- I guess even when people have a great deal they still want to make it better.

You need to ask these types of buyers how much lower do you need the market to go? Or Where does the market have to be for you to purchase a home? Some people need to just talk it out and realize what they are really saying.

Around here it is not a buyers market anymore...the foreclosures are flying off the market, everyone who is waiting in the wings...may lose their chance
