Oak Ridge Realtor, Antoinette Scognamiglio, Snaps Pics of Her AreaThere are more benefits to your heart, head (and psyche) from taking a run around your neighborhood than you may be aware of!

If you're driving back and forth over your daily trek, you're more likely than not to miss the little nuances of your area.  Just little things, but little things that will put a huge smile on your face.

Take Mr. Bear's Roadside Advice Stand, for example.

I must have driven by this Sage Statue hundreds of times and never noticed what he had to offer!  Major, huge, life-changing advice, that if carried in your mind despite what gets thrown at you, immediately makes everything a little better!

A few months ago, I decided I was going to start running again.  I used to love the kickboxing classes offered in my town but my schedule and theirs just did NOT jibe.  So what better (and so very inexpensive) exercise routine to take up than running.

So after a quarter mile, my brain rehashing and filtering all the crap stuff that's part of being a REALTOR, mom, wife, and homeowner, figuring out the best way to deal with this couple, or get through this deal, or make my 17 year old realize how big a responsibility driving REALLY is and BOOM...I turn my head and this adorable little guy reaches out to let me know...

"LIFE IS GOOD!"

I had a smile on my face for the rest of the mileage, and for the rest of my day actually.  Every time I drive by Mr. Bear, no matter what else is going on, I smile very big.  My next mission: find my own sylvan savant and install him on my lawn with his own little message to the world!

Amazing what we see, when we start looking through a camera. My daughter made me drive today down around U of M campus because she didn't want me hanging out the window taking photos.

Oh, Missy, too funny!  It's AMAZING what an impact that weekend made on me!  Or more aptly, what an impact all the INCREDIBLE CAMERA TOTING LADIES had on me!  I have yet to order MOOs, but my mission has been to accumulate enough great pics to move on that...thanks for coming by.  Hope you and your family are very, very well :)

Antoinette~ I applaud you for running.  I just can't seem to get the running thing down, but I do walk one hour everyday and it is in my own neighborhood.  Since I am new to this area and my neighborhood, it has afforded me many great opportunities to meet some very wonderful and friendly people in the Woodcrest Subdivision of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Life is Good!  Jogging certainly makes me feel better, much better.

I share in your "pain", having a 15 year old who is in the process of acquiring her driver's license.  The market being what it is...  Teenager + Market + The rest of the Stressors = Get me my jogging shoes & let me at it, before I kill someone!  Two miles later, after filtering it all in my newly endorphin rich brain, I, too, notice the little things in life.  As I make it back to the house, I can't remember:  stress, what stress?

Vickie, hello and congrats for having your own workout routine!  A one hour walk isn't for wimps!  Even better that you're walking around your own neighborhood and getting to know the sights and the neighbors.  I used to drive to a track, but got bored with driving to where I'm running.  Seemed silly when I could just step out the door.  Thanks so much for your comment and keep walking!

MIRELA, YES!  THAT'S EXACTLY IT!  BINGO!  It seems we are exactly on the same page when it comes to jogging, and especially how that pertains to stressors.  I am much more "proactive" than "reactive" if I keep on my run schedule.  Beats antidepressants any time (which I would never consider, but hey there have been THOSE days)!
