Melted CandleHow to beat the heat in McKinney, Texas!

Texas summers can feel like it's as hot as the surface of  the sun!

We have found a way to combat thiFountains oppressive heat! A highly specialized, personal misting system.

Our two Golden Retrievers, Bailey and Baxter, are so glad that we built them their very own swimming pool!

Once a week, we take time away from Real Estate to beat the heat.

It starts the moment we turn on the outside speakers. Their excitement starts to build. Once they see the bathing suits, the barking to go outside begins. We gather our belongings, towels, sun glasses, and a good book. With a quick stop at the dog drawer to pick out a couple of choice tennis balls.

You'd think that it would be hard to stay cool in this Texas heat ... not at our house!

MisterOur low rent misting system runs on renewable energy!

It works like this.

I throw the ball.

Two dogs jump in the pool to retrieve it.Beach

Two minutes later, they are back with the ball.

Then they shake all that cool pool water all over me and my paperback book!

It's all fun and games, but there are several challenges.

Shielding the sunglasses from the "misting system" so I can still see in order to read.

Throwing the ball again and again and again without going over the fence.

Bailey CloseIf I don't throw the ball, it gets nudged into my ears or face ... not so tasty!

Finally, wearing them out ... never happens!

Cell phones do not seem to survive our ritual. Several have met with an early end!

We love to beat the heat together this way in McKinney, Texas!Book

The puppies looked like they had a really good time.  No wonder they're tired.

Hi,

How cute!! What a way to cool off I understand the southern summer heat being from Arkansas we know all about staying cool. I have an english bulldog, Bruno and bulldogs cant swim. So he is not allowed around the pool. You can see my sweet face bulldog on my active rain site.

Tinker, Bruno looks like a sweet boy! I can't believe he can't even doggy paddle. I guess it's just not what they are bred for. What were bull dogs bred for?

This was a really cleaver, cute post and your pictures are great and the dogs are beautiful.  I've been on patios that have that "real" simple misting thing around the house and it does work, you feel the tempature drop!  I know what you mean about them never wearing out, my poddle is 13 and still it's non stop with the thow whatever :-).  Would not take a million dollars for "my baby": Rhett.  Thanks for entering the contest and you have 200 points headed your way!  Liz

We have THE WINNERS of the contest; 1.Russell Lewis, 2.  Crystal Ledbetter  3.  Karen Stahla congratulations to all three, and you should already have your points credited to you.

Everyone else who entered is also a winner and should have 200 points just for entering.  There were some really great ones this time and a great turn out too.  Thanks for your understanding of the delay, illness, and then Hurricane Ike...being the culprits!  Let me know what other contest you would like to see our Texas Real Estate group do?

I will have a post done by tonight, so please check back in to read all about the contest and congradulate the winners.

Please keep helping me grow our great group of bloggers & friends and encourage more to join us.  We have grown to 419 members, and YOU have created some great post...no junk here!!!

John, thanks for your comment. You totally get it :-)

It actually works out really well because they keep me cool when I'm not in the pool. My poor book and sunglasses seem to suffer.

I should invest in some sunglasses with windshield wipers on them!
