UPDATE on Charitable DPA - Virtual Town Hall with Ann Ashburn, President and CEO of AmeriDream

DPA was eliminated effective October 1, 2008, in the comprehensive housing bill (H.R.3321) due to political negotiations. Yet DPA continues to be recognized as a valuable and needed program as stated by the thousands of supporters, including the Chairman of the House Financial Services committee.  Just one day after (H.R. 3321) was signed by the President, members of the House introduced a new bill (H.R.6694) to reauthorize, reform and save DPA.  The reforms eliminate HUD's stated concerns regarding the program.

Next Tuesday, August 19th, 2008, Ann Ashburn, President and CEO of AmeriDream will lead a Virtual Town Hall meeting to discuss:

• The introduction of a new bill and timeline
• The impact to our communities and economy if Charitable DPA goes away
• Risk-Based Pricing Authorization Act of 2008
• What you can do to help convince Congress to pass H.R. 6694 quickly, allowing down payment assistance to continue indefinitely, giving hundreds of thousands of individuals and families the continued opportunity of affordable homeownership
