I really need your help...from a Realtor's point-of-view.

Starting in September, I am going to be hosting short, 30 minute webinar trainings on timely mortgage information.  Because I only have 20 "spots" for invitees to the webinar, I am rolling it out to the local agents I work with in the beginning.  Depending on the success of it, my plans are to offer more "spots" or do the same webinar at different time slots, if demand warrants it.

I want to offer it as a value-added service to my current agents AND my hope is that these webinars will gain word-of-mouth and help me to grow my business!  :)

But I need feedback from you!

When I think about content, topics, etc. I am trying to take this from a Realtor's point-of-view.  But because I live, breathe, eat and sleep mortgages, what I think may be interesting, may be absolutely worthless and boring to an agent!

Can you help me with some of these thoughts:

  1. Does the idea of 30 minute, focused webinars on mortgage related topics even appeal to you as an agent?  In other words, if your loan officer came to you and invited you to a webinar like this, would you even attend?
  2. Content:  From a mortgage stand-point, what do you as an agent find interesting as far as topics?  What content would compel you to WANT to attend a 30-minute webinar?  Mortgage products?  State of the industry?  Rates?  Appraisal logistics?  Credit?
  3. In a nutshell, how would you answer, "Gosh, that is really something I would like to learn about?"

Thank you SO SO much for your help!

Sherri,

Great question! I will be following this thread to see some of the responses. We should always be cognizant of the needs of our referral partners!

If you're targeting agents I think any info you can give on the available products, programs, and grants available in your market will go a long way to making an interesting webinar.  Down Payment Assistance programs, state 1st time buyer programs, county grants, etc.  Any information you can offer to help lift a buyer on the financial bubble will help.

We all want to know what's available for our clients.

Zig Ziglar was quoted as saying that to get what we want out of life, we should help as many people as possible get what THEY want!

I believe that is true...

Tim, thank you VERY much!  County grants!  How could I forget that!  That goes along with State Bond programs, too.  Thank you for "jogging" some more thoughts and ideas!

Everybody wants to know how to increase their sales. I get lots of calls from people wanting to know if I have homes for rent - which I don't. If I could convert those people to home buyers that would be fantastic!

Monday, I learned that another agent in my office used to be a loan officer at the local USDA office. He told me about the loan products they have there. A few minutes ago I saw that same product being advertised by a local mortgage officer. I suspect that the homes bought with these loans aren't expensive type homes but I'm not picky about the commission a home generates.

I'd like to know more about different types of financing. Besides the FHA DPA programs that are supposed to be going away, can a seller agree to pay the down payment and closing costs/prepaids without using one of those programs?

I read on the internet recently someone talking about mortgage fraud. What constitutes mortgage fraud?

Some agents may not be experienced in mortgage options and other agents could always use a refresher.
