The new school year has begun and students at Hixson Middle School have one last semester at their old school Hixson Middle School construction photobuilding. In January 2009, they will move into the new facility which is under construction, just next to the Hixson High School.

This construction project is part of the $150 million being spent in Hamilton County in new school buildings.

The principal is Sandra Barnwell. The school has approximately 580 students.

Orchard Knob Elementary and Signal Mountain Middle and High School opened their new buildings in time for the fall start of the school year.

Hixson itself is experiencing a renaissance with a new super Bilo opening just a few months ago. Several residential developments are underway as well as much new commercial construction.

Richard, nice piece. Architecturally very appealing. Hoepfully the students and teachers will outshine the visual interest of the school. Perhaps it will help inspire them.
