South of Birmingham Alabama you will find the mountain range called Oak Mountain.  This is the home of Oak Mountain State Park with lovely Oak Trees.  Someone told me once that there were over 40 varieties of Oak Trees in the Birmingham area.  I haven't verified this, but I believe it.  There are many neighborhoods nestled around this Oak Mountain.

Home sales in the Oak Mountain area ticked up slightly to 86 sales in July - the highest number since August '07 with 99. This area which includes some property within the Hoover City limits and other in unincorporated Shelby County had an average salesprice of $353,453 down from the yearly high of $374,847 in June, with prices ranging from $117,900 for a 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath condo at Horizon, to 1,200,000 for a home in Highland Lakes.  There was also an older -totally renovated home - on a peninsula on Valley Lake that sold for 1,145,850.  The median salesprice was $285,000. The average day on market for closed sales was 83.24. Currently there are 814 homes on the market which represents a 9.46 month supply.
