Goodluck getting the banks to do that lol
Well said. I have seen bank owned homes that have deteriorated greatly due to utilities being shut off. Although I realize the cost of keeping the utilities on, there is also significant cost related to turning them off!
The banks that I work with require the power /water / gas be turned on.. and truth is seems to help them sell faster ... guess it helps the buyer feel like the home is "fresher"

The banks are not proactive in selling their inventory, the power off, the lawns are in poor condition, homes are not clean. They just don't understand selling real estate.
Good luck and success

Banks aren't really in the real estate business so they don't know all teh little common sense tips that we know.
Good idea, however, as Lou said, the power is off, there are notices all over the window's about the yards...they area hurting themselves in the long run. They do not want to incur any more expenses so they will not pay an electric bill.
If you think the mold is bad...how about the long lasting pet odor.
Mold is bad, I got really sick one time from breathing mold spores...actually needed antibiotics to fix it...
Good idea, sorry, but don't think it will ever happen...they just don't understand RE.
It sure would be nice if they would, but I don't think they care. The clients can't get past the front door sometimes the smell of mold is so bad.
An average mold remediation project is around $11,000 and could keep the house from selling and having a home sit on the market with utilities on for 1 year would be around $3,600 so I would think that someone that works with numbers everyday would be able to figure this out.
