Congratulations Nastia Liukin on the GOLD medal for the Women's All-Round in Gymnastics.  I loved it!!  America first and second - the first time in history that this has happened.  NBC mentioned twice tonight that Natsia's gym in is my hometown of Plano, TX.  Our city can't pay for better advertising than that!!

The 2004 All-Round Olympic Champion, Carly Patterson, also worked at the same gym in Plano.  So, I think this means if you want to win gold, you need to move to Plano, TX.

Oh wow...there must be some great coaches in Plano that have been capable of bringing out a persons abilities.  That is a great picture that you found.

Sondra - Nastia's parents actually own the gym.  Her Dad and Mom were gymnasts in Russia.  Her Dad was a silver medalist in Men's gymnastics and her Mom was a world championship in Rhythmic gymnastics.  They moved from Moscow to the US when Nastia was 2.  And they have obviously built a very successful gymnastics program in Plano.

Did you notice how she stuck her landings?  She performed very well (obviously).

John,  It was a great performance.  I was proud of her and proud to be an American.  I have become totally addicted to the Olympics this year.

Hi Linda... nice post!  She really did a great job and it is so difficult to watch and not feel proud to be an American!

Harrison - thanks for stopping by.

Edward - yes, the balance beam is very nerve racking.  All the gymnastic events make me so nervous to watch but I love it!

Steve - I agree.  It is always such a proud moment to watch our American teams do well.
