In 2007, 20,603 bloggers worldwide, including many Active Rain members, took part in Blog Action Day 2007. The subject was the environment.
I wrote, Mankind~Programmed to Self-destruct? , and although I'm not certain that my post had any great or lasting impact, I do know it was widely read and caused my readers to reflect on the state of the earth today.
It does not take much to initiate change; one person can and does make a difference. Never underestimate the power of you!
Active Rain has grown by leaps and bounds since then and I'm anticipating that our members will contribute greatly to the coming Blog Action Day 2008 which takes place on October 15th.
Again this year, I've made a commitment to writing a post for Blog Action Day. I'm hoping that each and every one of you will do so as well.
Together our voices are strong and we can make a difference.
Your blog may take any slant you choose as long as it covers some aspect of poverty in the world today.
When we think of poverty, we tend to think of those who are living in third world countries striving daily for enough food to keep themselves and their family alive for another day; however this is but one face of poverty peering out from our blue planet today.
Poverty has many faces and many of them you may see every day and not even be aware of.
In many developed countries, poverty abounds and remains unseen by the common man.
Painted in shades of despair and struggle, the many layers of poverty touch upon the lives of each and every one of us.

This is an awesome event. Somehow I missed this last year. I will mark my calendar.
