People always ask me "is it a good time to buy in Austin?". It seems that most people that visit Austin,  talk about buying a home here someday. Everyone loves the quality of life and the beautiful surroundings. Thank goodness we still have some homes for sale to meet the demand of people looking to relocate to Austin and the surrounding area.

According to the Austin American Statesman the Austin median home prices are still going up, while around the nation its dropping an average of about 7%. In Austin the median home price rose 4 percent up to $194,200. According to the National Association of Realtors, the three Texas cities to experience the most rapid growth are Austin, El Paso and Corpus Christi.

However its not all rosy in Texas. They also reported that the markets have fallen slightly in some parts of Texas. Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Beaumont all dropped slightly over the last year an average of 2%. Other parts of the country have been hit much harder. For example they reported the prices in Sacramento California dropped by about 35%. and Fort Meyers Florida is down about 33%.

The bottom line is, it is still a very good time to buy in Austin.
