ActiveRain Launches "NEW" Video Interface

By
Education & Training with Retired Executive Director of Education at eXp Non-Licensed

Well.  (Big Sigh w/Big Smile)  Today you will see a "new" icon on the edit tool bar when you go to create a new post, edit an existing post, or leave someone a comment.  When you click on the new icon, you'll soon have one of two options  One: Click on it to seamlessly access your AR Video Dashboard.  Two: Be given an option to create an ActiveRain Video Account.  I have been waiting for this for months. FINALLY!!

Existing ActiveRain Video Subscribers:

You'll now be able to bypass the log-in screen at Mixpo.com, and access the your video console directly.  Currently, if you click on the    video button/icon, it will take you to a screen where you'll subscribe.  We will need you to update your information. (The site is secured)  Your current video account will remain the same.  Your videos and library will not be affected.  For the next week or so, you will still have to embed your videos the same way you have in the past, but once we get the user interface fully integrated, your video will now be just one click away.

New ActiveRain Video Subscribers:

New users, you will need to subscribe which is simple and takes less than a minute.  Just click on the    button/icon, and follow the instructions on the screen, it's so easy a caveman could do it. lol~  Once you are activated, you'll have easy access to all your video and marketing ad campaigns created on the ActiveRain Video dashboard.  We are completing the log-in and password interface now, I'm hoping it will be ready next week.

Video is one of the most powerful and viral tools on the Internet today, not only for Real Estate, but every business!  There's no more guessing, we know where this technology is going.  Now that video will be indexed by search engines based on converting speech to text, I think this is a smart move, and I'm glad to see AR and our community getting more involved with this.  I'm in 100%!

Urgh! I feel like I am quickly becoming a "have not" in the computer world! I was pleased that I can post and am just learning how to link! I'd better get with it before I get in the rut of having my FOUR YEAR OLD (where did the toolbar for comments go?) have to program things for me! I was just debating getting the Flip and will now get one this week! I've got so much to learn and thank goodness I have Active Rain to help me! :) Next question, is there a free service that can be used by those of us that would only use video once in a great while?

Ellie - the price is 29.00 per month. The flip video is a great portable video, but you should shop to see what works best for you and your needs.  Let me know if you need any help with either.

Kieran and Cecelia - Twitter is a micro-blogging platform but used for many useful purposes. You can find out more by going to twitter.com.  And yes, I do remember that cereal box. lol!~  :-)

Missy - the early bird sign ups like yourself were not charged except for the first month.  Now that it will be fully integrated into AR, there will be a fee just as we stated in the beginning.  You'll only need to enter your card info 1 time, and it's a month to month arrangement.

I have put off doing any tutorials until we got it fully implemented, now I can start putting these together. There have been some great changes made so I'm glad I didn't put too much time into creating tutorials that would now have to be updated or replaced anyway.  They're coming soon....   :-)

Is it just me or does everyone have to wait for these videos to finish buffering. This sometimes takes awhile. If it takes too long my ADD kicks in and I'm outta there. I want to be excited about all this video stuff and I know I'm going to have to get up to speed but for years we've been hearing about how many clients don't want to have to wait for fancy website intro pages to load. How is this really any different? Just curious.

Kathy - at times they do need to buffer but that's better than having a page or blog not load due to the size of some videos members upload. Only the player loads until you click play.  This will also depend on your computer, your internet speed, and other variables. I recommend short videos 1-3 minutes tops.  I also can't compare video to website intro pages. I think they are 2 different things.  Viewers want to see video and depending on the topic or property, most will wait a couple seconds to see a good quality video. :-)

Jeanean - there is a HD option in the video player, but it's just for higher quality I don't believe it is true television HD quality, but you can certainly see a difference compared to some of the other video players out there.  Try the sample I added above.  :-)

Mike - just left you a video comment on your seesmic video above.  I hope it worked.  I could see where this would come in very handy working iwth clients overseas or out of state.  Many other uses come to mind regarding our industry and this new wave of video technology.  Watching the Olympics tonight and really enjoying them for the first time since they began. :-)

Forgive me if this is a totally newb question.... Is there a really glaring reason why one would use mixpo rather than a free service like www.wellcomemat.com ?

Starr Realty - Wellcomemat is awesome, I highly recommend their product and service. I use their platform myself and love it.  As far as your question and a glaring reason why you would use mixpo, I'd have to say I think it's a matter of choice and what you're looking for in your video ads and campaigns.

I have written a few posts on the topic, and there are some pretty worthy features mentioned in the post above. If you'd like to know more about the new AR Video platform, feel free to click on my name at the bottom of this comment, it will take you to my profile page where you can view many posts I've categorized discussing the features, the benefits, and the how-to's of Mixpo and AR video.

You can also call or email me if you need additional answers to any questions that you may have. It's just another great feature and tool being offered by your AR Network and Team. :-)

Linda - I just did a post regarding some of the things you can do with AR Video and using this new button.  Once you are set-up, the access to AR's Video panel is a single click away. You'll love it.  :-)

I would use it if it weren't for the mixpo limitation. There are tons of video services... many of them free. Thanks for the upgrade though. I'm sure there are those who'll make good use of it.

Chuck - not sure of the limitations you are referring to unless you are referring to price?  Youtube is a great resourse for hosting FREE video, but I think you'll have many more limitations there than you would AR Video.  Youtube is strictly a video hosting site for the entire planet.  That's like comparing apples to oranges.

If you post a Real Estate Video on youtube, it's likely that your competitors video will pop up in the player right after yours.  Now that to me is the ultimate limitation.  Have you really taken a look at the features of AR Video and compared them to other online editing, production and hosting platforms?

I'd love to show you the differences and share that the limitations you mention (other than price) are really a false perception that you may have about this platform.  I'll give you 5 things you can do on AR video that no other service offers, then you decide after due dilligence where the limitations really lie.

Just call me, and I'll show you what I mean.  Thanks Chuck, always great to have your comments and opinions, I really do appreciate them. :-))
