Raleigh NC - Art on the Edge - A Contemporary Performing Arts Festival

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RED Properties NC #129285

Lichtin Plaza at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts will come alive from August 21 - 23 with ART!

With everything from local bands on the verge of making it big, theatrical companies to international thespians - ART ON THE EDGE will be a sensory explosion!

A few shows that I know I WON'T MISS are Levity III by England's Architects of Air.  Levity III should prove to be a breathtaking luminarium made up of labyrinthine tunnels and spacious domes allowing one to lose themself in complete sensory immersion.  To check out more about Architects of Air check out their website.  Also, here is an excerpt from just one review of their "work".:

Arcazzar. Like all Parkinson's luminaria, is entered through an airlock. You'll find a central chamber, around which are arranged three linked domes - red, blue and green - and the two columns: red and blue. It's all rather more complex than that: there are oblique "horns" to deliver daylight into the interior, for instance, and the whole thing is so convoluted that the ground plan of the structure looks rather like a giant raspberry - or alternatively, a slice through the human brain.

Truly fascinating!

Another show for me that will be a not miss is The Existents!  The Existents is a musical that is a view of life told through a fictitious rocks band's trials and tribulations.  The characters represent one's own mind, heart, body, spirit and soul.  To check out more about the show please visit the NC Theatre website.

For a complete schedule of performers please visit the Art on the Edge website.

Admission varies from one performance to another.

Have fun!  Explore downtown Raleigh!

Tom - It sound be a little of something for everyone!

Cristal - Thanks!  (about the blog) The "festival"  has a ton of different stuff - should be fun!

Pam - Doesn't that sound really neat???  They have articles on their website from over the last 10 years - I can't wait to see it!

Hal - I think you're right!  I am sure we'll have loads of pix.

Don - On top of that - I think Liam gets to go to the beach with grandma and grandpa that weekend.  It will be an adult weekend!  (Why has this kid gone to Myrtle Beach 3 times now since May and we have been once???)

Hi Leesa,

I wish I had more appreciation for the arts. I'm sure it was an awesome experience, which is something art offers the most from what I hear...
