Welcome to our state.  Starting on Sunday, August 17 and thru August 23rd, we have a tax free week for clothing and footwear that is less than $300.00.  I thought it would be for all items.  Don't you need to buy school supplies, too?  My children are now adults, so, this no longer impacts my budget.  I do hope that it helps others in our state.  With rising fuel prices and our local taxes continuing to rise every year, it has become difficult for most citizens of Connecticut to meet their family and business budgets.

This event, ordered by our Govenor, Honorable Jodi Rell, is a good kickoff for the retail stores, right before school starts.  School does begin before Labor Day this year.  Haven't yet to figure out why.  They attend for 2 half or full days, then have a long weekend.  Teachers have told me that not much can get done in two days before a break.  It does stop vacations short.  Though, in our state, the new thing is a "staycation."  Day trips within Connecticut.  That is one of the answers to saving fuel expenses and still being able to have family time, as in vacations.

I have heard of this tax-free offer in other states, too.  Hoping that it helps to secure jobs of those in retail.  Surely, we need to help eachother to make our economy grow!

It's a Good Life!

Frances every little bit helps these day even if it is just saving a little on the tax.  By the way I agree with you, it has never made much sense to me either why the start school before Labor Day.
