Fay Who?

I want to know. Is there really a storm or is this just a hoax by Home Depot and/or Lowes to generate more sales.

I saw a CNN reporter in the Keys summerizing an interview he has with a gentleman who was rowing out to his sail boat. It went like this;

Are you leaving?

Nope.

Are your friends leaving?

Nope.

The background was one of a beautiful day on the water and the man looked like he was going sailing.

On the weather station the announcer stated that this would be a "heavy rain" event for Florida.

Maybe, or maybe not.

We have heavy rain events all summer long, with thunder and lightning, often daily. We have funnel clouds with touchdowns. On a regular basis we are always prepared for bad storms during the summer.

The electricity may go out. Well that also could happen this afternoon.

Is Fay more of a media event than a threat?

I think so.

But,

I did buy an exra 24 bottles of water. So if your thirsty, stop on by!

The media is doing a major disservice to the American people.  News, in many aspects, has become nothing more than "info-tainment" with a complete disregard for facts in an all out effort to push agendas.  Fear, Fear, Fear ... seems to be the never ending theme.

The newscasts today bring together a few talking heads and a lot of recycled material.  To lower costs, weather is now front and center at different times during broadcasts.  I think that the phrase "crying wolf" comes to mind.  If we listened to the weather folks we would miss all of the great days in search of the few times they get it right.  Batten down the hatches, a storm is brewing in the Azores and it may......... cause a weather event where ever you live.

It is summer everywhere,  high heat, possible thundershowers, tornadoes or hurricanes.  Happens everyyear about this time.

Jay, drink up!  It's never a bad idea to have a little extra water lying around!  I remember last year when a pipe burst and we had to turn off the water to the entire house for day.

It is always god to be prepared. I think the talking heads do the public a huge dis-service as they are generally very inflammatory and often don't have hard facts to back them up. Good luck selling in FL!!

One good thing for me is I might get some 1004D work out of this! As of Sunday afternoon Dade and Broward schools are closed tomorrow. Suxs for us parents. I could see it now, a reporter from the weather channel, paying a bum in Miami, to lie on the ground and shake a stop sign, so he or she could be on air, in the high wind gusts! I wounder if the weather nurd for channel 4 is in full panick mode yet.

Hi Jay, Hope the storm is a fizzle and all you guys will be safe. We will be watching the weather channel as we have a little place in S. Ft. Myers. Go to the beach for me will you, it's been about seven months since we've been down.

Michael,

at 7:30 this morning the weather channel had a wimp reporter with his LL bean wind breaker and hoddie on and tied tightly.

it wasn't raining and there was no wind.

Jacqueline,

if this is as bad as it gets for the season, all right.

Jaon,
