While on vacation/shooting assignment January 2002 in the caribbean I shot this beautiful sunset over the Great Bay-Philipsburg, St. Maarten. This photo assignment was several months after 9/11 and the four islands I was shooting that month were almost deserted. There was also a palpable feeling of uneasiness in traveling to and around the caribbean at that time.

This image was shot with a Mamiya 645AFd medium format camera on Fuji NGHII 120 film.

Half the island is Dutch and the other half of the island is French.

Robert-

It was beautiful that evening in St. Maarten and luckily the Fuji Film I was using had the latitude to include the sun rays and still retain shadow detail. Not to Bad for a final print considering it is a scan from a 645 slide.
