OK, OK.  I know I need a new picture.  Seems like everyone I meet says "You look different than your picture".  Its not a "glamour shot" by any means, but my hair is different.  Shoot, I'm a woman.  My hair looks different every day of the week!  Sometimes its a little lighter than other times too.  As direct result of just a lot of sun, and nothing else (yeah sure!!).  But the blog is a way for people to get to know me, so I'll update the picture someday...

And in an effort to get the "real me" out to the public a little more, I thought that it might be interesting to bring to light some facts the public might not know about me;

1.  Why real estate:  Well, the lure of easy money of course!  Ha Ha!!  Actually, I thought at that point (2002) that it would be a good fit for my family, as I had two small(er) children and needed a flexible schedule.  I also liked looking at houses.

2.  What I discovered AFTER getting licensed:  I don't really like showing houses.  Weird huh?  Well, I don't HATE showing houses, but there are so many other aspects of real estate that I love a lot more.  Client interaction, negotiations, and my baby... MARKETING!  Marketing my listings in as many unique and varied methods as I can.  I even like the paperwork.  I know, I'm strange.

3.  I'm a MASTER SALESPERSON!:  Excuse me while I toot my own horn!  It doesn't make me "better" per say.  Oh heck, sure it does!  I completed an intensive training course in 2007.  About 7 weeks of study, not to mention weekly goals that I had to meet (if I didn't the instructor could kick me out!!).  Then in January 2008 I went on a pilgrimage to Chicago, for more classes.  Bad enough going to Chicago in the winter, but just to sit in class for 3 days straight????  No shopping?  No Museums, or Zoo's, or Navy Pier!  I did it, and obtained my designation.  Only about 1% of all Realtors nationwide have it.  Maybe in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much.  But it sure was hard work, and lots of learning.  I feel good for having earned it, and I think it shows in the service I provide.  Good for me, good for you!

3.  What about my free time:  I've got some guilty pleasures.  Essentially I'm a kid at heart.  Ever heard of WEBKINZ?  My kids turned me on to this.  They are cute stuffed animals.  They come with a code for the WEBKINZ web-site.  Once you enter the code, you go thru an "adoption process" for your animal.  Then, the fun begins.  You can decorate your room, buy clothes and food and toys for your animal.  And play games.  I'm currently hung up on a game very similar to SCRABBLE.  The hour just flies by as I sit searching for word combinations.  I get in "the zone" and all the stress of life just floats away to the background.  I scoffed at WEBKINZ for the longest time, then just this past July, for my 37th b-day, got an animal of my own.  Now I'm an addict.  So if I'm not at one of my kids functions, find me in WEBKINZ WORLD!

4.  Realtors must live in fancy houses:  Come on over and see for yourself.  Maybe that's why I don't enjoy showing houses so much.  Sometimes its hard to come home.  To toys in the family room, dog hair rolling like tumbleweeds across the dining room.  Lets not even discuss the bathrooms.  I've got a brick ranch.  3 bedroom, 2 bath.  Family room, living room.  A cozy buck stove for the winter.  I'd love to have a basement.  I'd love to have a gurgling stream in my yard.  A few acres to roam free on.  I have my own dream home in my mind, same as all of us do.  I think sometimes my job can look glamorous.  It sure does on HGTV!  But I come home to my stack of bills, dog food spilled on the kitchen floor, an emtpy toilet paper roll (apparently the "toilet paper fairy" does this job as no one else seems to know how!), and kids who need supper, just like you all do.

5.  I CANT WAIT for school to start!!!:  This just came to me, as I sit here blogging while my daughter hangs over my shoulder.  Its the curse of the flexible schedule.  I can go see the school plays, and go pick up a kid who barfs at school in the middle of the day.  Yep.  I can also "work from home"  HA!  Maybe some folks can swing it.  Me, not so much.  I just can't tune out the voices.  Funny, my husband can be right in the next room, me here at the computer with earphones on, and a sign that says "MOM IS WORKING".  But sure enough, if the kids need something, who do they come to?  Not Dad, parked in front of the TV watching the game.  No, its me.  So this coming Tuesday, when the big yellow bus comes rolling up the street, you'll all hear a big party coming from Lakengren.  That's me!

So, now you know a little more about me.

Are you thinking maybe you should have stopped at the "Glamour Shot"?

Hi Kelley!

Loved your confessions! Especially the tumbleweed dog hair rolling through my mind right now - and of course rolling across my hardwood floors, too!

I've been swamped lately so haven't been to active on AR, but need to get back in the groove, so thought I'd say a quick HELLO!

Gotta, go, must check my toilet paper supply.

Warm regards,

Dee

Hi Dee!  Nice to hear from you.  I have recently been getting so much response from my blogs!  In fact, just this weekend I got a call about my neighborhood from a great couple way out in Las Vegas.  So the RAIN WORKS!

Someone else did a great blog about how the blog is really an ice breaker for agents and clients anymore...so it got me thinking about showing a little more of my "personal side" to the world.  Just not too much :)

Hope business is good!
