You Are A Client For Life - Not A Client For Now

How many times as customers do we feel like we been told what we wanted to hear just to close the deal and after wards never get the same attention as before and feel taken advantage of?

I am always a firm believer of the Ethic of Reciprocity which is bound by "Treating others as you would like to be treated" I guess realizing even I myself sometimes come across sharks in sales who just want you a client for that one day and never again in the future.

So I was shopping for a car this weekend for my Girlfriend because she wanted some help on choosing a car and also because she believes if she brings me along she won't get ripped off.

How funny is that before even talking to a sales person we came across a preconceived notion of car sales people ripping us off and taking advantage of women.

Our Experience with buying from the dealership was horrible.  There was a lot of back-talking, bashing the competition, cover ups and downplays on the conditions of the cars and maintenance.

I was told I didn't need a certified pre-owned car because they have a car fax report and do a 91 point inspection, what are you serious CRAZY!!??

Even the personal factor was not there, there was no effort in getting to know us a little better than just a price tag, we got the assumptive sales pitch thinking we were just college kids with no money when in fact we were older than him;

Finally the guy told us that he will give us a good deal so he can get to his next tier instead of telling us that if he helps us out we should give him referrals!!

It amazes me how people still want to just make a quick buck and doesn't realize the potential in having a client for life.  With my recent car experience I just want to emphasize how important it is in building a presnt and future relationship than just a now relationship.

  • I want you as a client for life, how do you spell your name and want to come to my BBQ party next year?
  • You are not a price tag, I don't care if you apply for a 15k small loan to a multi-million dollar loan, you will get the same time devoted to you always.
  • I won't give you false answers and hopes, If I am unsure of a product I will find out for you.  I will give you iron clad numbers backed up by solid documents and answers.
  • I make a living based on quality and not quantity, I work for referrals and want you as a client for life!

There is good and bad in every profession. I have never liked car salesman either- I always take along a male friend when I buy a car. Not for advice, but to see if the salesman directs his attention to me after I tell him I am the one buying. If he ignores me, I walk!

I think we should strive to have a client for life - the referral business can be awesome!

Justin, the clients we serve well today are our future for tomorrow. I have never understood people, ie Realtors that don't stay in touch with past clients. In my opinion they are most valuable resources for future business.

Sadly, the car salesman doesn't realize he could make more money by being an ethical/professional salesman by way of referrals for a job well done.  However, I fault his Manager by not doing the proper training!

HI JUSTIN!

I always observe my sale transactions...was it good? What could the saleperson have done to make it better?  I use this to set my standards.  I think, "Boy, I sure wouldn't have said that!"  or "What a lousy salesperson he/she was!"

I love the picture!  Enjoy your day...
