A recent study done by Bankrate, Inc. has found that North Carolina has the lowest closing costs in the nation. The study proposed what the closing cost would be for buying a home in North Carolina with a 30 year fixed-rate $200,000 mortgage, and a 20% down payment. $2,650 was the average in North Carolina, with the national average being $3,118. Coming as very little of a surprise, New York has an average of $4,016.
