Well if you have been watching the news it's hard to miss what is going on here in Southwest Florida.  Yes it appears Tropical Storm Fay may pay us a visit.  What is it like here right now?  Calm... Here is a picture I took at 9:30 a.m. from Vanderbilt Beach Naples.  You can see some of the storm clouds coming in the distance by Marco Island

Also the Red Cross has a list where you can Register in the event of an emergency it is a great way to communicate with family that you are safe.  Especially if you have family out of state!

Red Cross Safe and Well List

The Attorney General has activated the price gouging hotline.  If you feel that you have been taken advantage of while preparing for the storm call  866-9-NO-SCAM (866-966-7226).

Finally the biggest danger from any storm is human error.  Stay home while Fay passes.  There may be some flooding and that can make driving treacherous, some downed power lines, or even power failure.

If you plan on using a generator please take a minute and visit here  You must be aware of the danger from carbon monoxide and how to properly use a generator!

I've been watching the weather carefully---my other home is in Boca Grande which appears to be right in the middle of the mess.  Good luck!

Diane I really love Boca - very pretty... yes it looks like it may be messy with rain and some flooding but it didn't do much over the keys stay positive.  I was just at the beach very calm for now still at 5 p.m. - getting a little bit breezier and steady drizzle but could be worse :-)

Hi Shannon!  I too am very interested in this storm as I am heading to Orange Beach in Alabama this weekend.  I love your part of Florida....there were several summers that my family vacationed at Anna Maria Island (I know, it's a little north of you).

Diane, I have family that owns a home in Boca Grande, and a few years ago I visited this area when we celebrated a wedding there.  It is a very special community and I hope your don't have any problems.
