WHAT?  HANNA, YOU'VE NEVER BEEN FISHING??  GOODNESS, LET'S GO.

The daughter in the family that is staying with me while their home is being finished asked me about the fishing tackle standing in the corner of my garage.

Hanna asked, "Is that all your fishing stuff?"

"Sure, I love to fish", say I.

I asked Hanna's Dad, Joe, if they would like to take the children to the park and let them catch a few fish.  "Sure Lenn, when can we go?"  We agreed on Sunday. Joe had to get a fishing license.  We set out for Franklin Park last Sunday about 8:30 a.m.  I love folks who get an early start.  Of course, with a 2 year old, they're up at 6:00 a.m. even on a Sunday.

So, I packed fishing gear for Joe and Hanna, Tiffany Hanna's Mom and Jack her brother weren't going to fish.  Just keeping up with Jack is a full time job for Tiffany.

So, Hanna learned to cast a spinning rod and reel, watch the bobber go under and reel in Bluegill.

A nice summer adventure for a young lady.  Start them young, Lenn says.

Careful Jack.  That hook is sharp.                                           Hanna can cast almost like a pro.

Fishing Piers at Franklin Park

Catching fish at the lake in Franklin Park is easy from the fishing piers.

Lenn,

Funny...we keep our fishing gear in the corner of the garage also...! Our first fishing trip was a disaster...too many trees near the shoreline...all Dad did was bait hooks, cast, and detangle fishing line from trees...!!! Thanks,   Fran

You still have the family staying with you and you are teaching them to fish? Lenn, you are the woman!

Kevin.  Thanks.  It was fun.

Fran.  You can see that there is plenty of shore for them to cast.  I use a fly rod so I only go to places with lots of open shore line or on a boat.

Amanda.  Thanks.  I suspect that they'll be here until about the second week in Sept.  Not a problem.  I have lots of room.   The only problem I've noticed so far is that Jack, the 2 year old likes to turn lights on.  Not a problem.  I'm going to give them my electric bill.

If ever I get to that side of the world ...would you teach me Lenn? Okay, how about catching them for me and saying I did LOL. Wonderful story and sounds like so much fun you all had.

Lenn, that's one thing I haven't done recently despite living on a lake full of bass and who knows what else.  How nice of you to take these children and family under your wing and teach them more about how to enjoy your beautiful community!

I enjoyed a window into your day and it's a great connection on area info too. Looks like a successful day from several angles...or anglers :)

Diane.  It's my pleasure.  If they are going to be my house guests, I should treat them to a fun day now and again.  The lake is close to their noew home, about 2 miles so when we were through fishing, they went to check on their home.  Just a few weeks more. . . . .

Mary.  Indeed.  It was fun for all.  You are in an area with lunker Largemouth Bass. How can you resist.  I've fished Lake Gaston on the Kerr many time.  I love fishing those lakes down in your area.

Lenn- That's what I call a full service REALTOR®.  Bed, breakfast and fishing lessons, while they wait to move into their new home.

If I lived closer I would volunteer to babysit Jack.  Oh my, I miss that age.

What a fun time for all of you.

Marilyn.  Thanks.  I have this big old house.  It didn't make sense for these folks to be in temp housing.  They're nice folks.

Kris.  Baby sit Jack???  HA!!  How fast can you run?  You are a trooper.

Lenn, I wouldn't have to run.  I know 2 year old boys.  I'd have a survival kit of match box cars, animal crackers, dirt and a dump truck.

Kris- I agree.  It was a lot of fun playing "cars and trucks" with my sons and grandsons.  If I'm still around, I hope I can bend, to get down to play with my great grandsons.  Oh, right - the problem won't be getting down...it will be getting up.

Kris.  2 year old = perpetual motion.  Until the eyes get heavy and then it's sleeping like a log.  Actually Jack has a very good routine.  Up at 6 a.m.  nap at 1-3, in bed at 7:30 p.m.  Sleeps like a log.
