Getting Ready for Hurricane Fay

Well, Fay is on her way to Bonita Springs / Naples area in Southwest Florida! Hurricane Fay

It has been cloudy all day. It has been raining on and off and a little bit breezy. It actually feels great! I got to take Gracie for a nice walk in between rain bouts.

I am almost finished doing what I can do.

Everything is off the porch and lanai
Plants brought in
bathtubs filled with water
extra water in the fridge
turned the fridge and freezer down a bit to get colder
turned the air conditioner down a bit too
have flashlights in every room (and extra batteries)
candles are sitting out and ready to go
battery powered radio ready
accordian hurricane shutters closed (for the most part...I had trouble locking them so I am making do. The front window and door I left open so I can watch the fun!)
Plenty of dog food handy

the cutest dog ever Speaking of dogs ... they are driving me nuts! Especially Gracie. She knows "sumpin's up" and is following me mercilessly and biting at my feet and yapping and running in circles!

It's funny, Bailey the old man, who can't hear and is almost blind and going senile .... still knows there is something different. Dogs are so cool.

Personally, I don't think Fay will be a big deal. I am looking forward to it. I just adore a good storm!

I'll let you know tomorrow how it went. Providing I have electricity that is.

Hi Sharon. I must say you are the most positive person about to be hit by a hurricane :-) I am sure you guys are used to it down there, but still... the last thing I would be looking forward to is a "good storm" as you put it. Maybe its a Florida thing :-) We don't get hurricanes up here in Seattle, but we sure do get rain so at least I can relate to you on that one.

BTW, your Gracie is ADORABLE! Does she have a Dogster page? If not, she should! I have 4 Maltese babies (thats right, 4) and they each have their own Dogster which is basically facebook/myspace for dogs. Kayla is the queen of our castle since she was our first. Sharon - How often do you get hurricanes? Is Hurricane Fay a big one. I don't watch the news so I don't know. Be careful and I hope your dogs calm down some.

Robert - believe it or not, this particular area of SW Florida doesn't get hit that often. They tell me that before Wilma, three years ago, there hadn't been a mojor hurricane here in 40 years! I'm not expecting Fay to be much, but what do I know! We'll see ...
