This sounds great- water in the tap. But where is the water for the project coming from? There are two water sheds in this area- the Lemon reservior(Florida river) and the Vallecito reservior(Pine river) the organizer want to use the water out of the Vallecito and take it to the area under the Lemon reservior. This is agricultural water that is at stake.
I would say- check the map of the properties that have been excluded from this district- there are over 700 households that excluded their property- most of the people who haul water opted out. People bought cheap land knowing there was no water or the water was not good(too much selenium). These people can't afford 5mil + additional tax, and $5,000 tap fee and the pipe and installation to their house. The water will create additional growth which will require additional infrastructure and then additional taxes. The La Plata Archuleta Water District is for the developers and the home builders. What you moved to this area for- won't be here before long. Get the whole story before you say it is a good thing.
