First Tip From The Parasite + A Slide Show

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

This is a slide show from a Client Appreciation BBQ that I hosted at my house this summer.

I wanted to share (yes, I used the S-word) an idea that I have found works well.  For those who called me selfish in my previous Confessions of a Parasite post - here is my first shot at offering something semi-useful.

It is nothing earth shattering and there are probably dozens of you that do the same thing already.  However, please remember I am a parasite, so I am going to start with baby steps (on all 8 of my hairy, little legs).

Each year, I hire a professional photographer to take photos of my clients and their families at the BBQ.  I then have the photos developed, put them in a nice frame and hand-deliver them to my clients. This is a bigger job than it sounds as we had over 200 attendees this year.  It's a nice gift for my clients and a nice reminder of the fun they had at the party.

This is not exactly the same as posting my full listing presentation online.

Baby steps...

Throwing a party for 200 people is a huge job in itself. That's a heck of a party. Still didn't get it why you call yourself a parasite...

Loved your slide show.

"Tick? Tapeworm? Nemotode?"

Lenza - None of the above.  I am more of a common flea.  Unless, of course, a flea isa Nemotode.  I don't have your vocabulary so I am not sure.

Mrs. Greenberg- I am honored that you stopped by.  How are those beautiful Birds in your wonderful Burbs?  Is that your specialty?  Buyers who are bird lovers?  Seems like a very narrow niche but who am I to question you.

Kathleen - Very good points.  You will find that most of us parasites rate very well on customer satisfaction surveys.  We go all out.

Michelle- Thanks for your note.  It feels Ok but I did not give away much.  I will feel like I am a changed man when I am running blogging seminars for local agents like you do.  That is a sign of someone who fears no one.  Not there yet.

Al-I've had many client appreciation nights, but not at my house. My favorite so far was buying several tables at a fund raising auction for a local charity.  I was also one of the sponsors, so when they acknowledged me, I had the BEST applause.  My clients had free wine and dinner, and bid on over 200 auction items for a good cause.

Being called a nematode by Lenza...you are moving UP in the AR world!

Jon- Thanks very much.  The party is fun for me to plan and host.  It is as much about my kids as it is about my clients.  Many of my clients have young children too, so I plan a fun party that I know my kids will love and it winds up serving dual purposes.  My kids have a blast and so do my clients -  and so do I.

The parasite thing is a long story.

"You've inspired me to plan my own client appreciation party!  Thanks!"

Lela - That is great.  If you need any help or advice just give me a buzz.  As everyone here on AR knows, I am always willing to share and not selfish at all.

Melina - You always have to one up me.   Now it's not enough just to "share" but I have to raise money for charity in the process?  Seriously, that is a great idea and a really nice way to give back.  You done good, kid.

Not sure why Lenza called me a Nematode.  I have no fear of toads.

Lenza,

I am glad it was just a lojack.  I thought you might have been following me and my family on the boardwalk.  That would be creepy, as opposed to a lojack, which is just odd.  Had I known you were there I would have bought you a cheese steak at the Big Lemon Stand or is than gone now?

You are too much!  I like your slide show, you should email it to the clients that attended the event!  I love the idea of the framed photo, really nice!  Keep on doing the good stuff, it does really make all of the difference!  ps, did you post this on your localism site?  People should know what a caring community you offer to your clients. Al, YOU ROCK!

It's a Good Life!

I love the idea of a client appreciation party?  How did you have room for 200 people?  How much help did you need for something like that?  Did that fan keep the flies away as well?

Fran - Thanks for the good feedback and the reminder to post the slide show on Localism.  I added the original post to Localism before I had the slideshow but forgot to add the slide show.

I can't wait to hear all about Mastermind.  Please call/email me when you get back or write a VERY detailed post.  I hope to join you there next year.

Deborah - We fit 200 people easily because it was outside in my yard.  It would have been tight if it was in my house.  I had a lot of help.  At the party, we had a guy manning the BBQ and 3 waitresses.  Plus we hired my niece and nephew and a couple neighbors kids to clean up, man the bonce house and water slide, watch over the little ones, and help serve drinks, etc.  I am happy to report there were no flies.
