My dog is back home

I have wonderful news!!!  My very first post I ever did (I didn't know how to submit, so it just showed up as a draft) told you the story of me offering help to a client and watching her dog for 3 months.  After more than a year she called and wanted him back, so we sent him on his way (she wouldn't tell me where , only that she was out of state).  Two weeks after he left and I was heart-broken, my daughter bought me a new miniature poodle puppy that we named Fozzie (after Fossie the bear).  I can't post any pics right now because he chewed up my camera cord...ahhh, puppies!

Guess what happened after we had him for less than a week?  We got a call from some angel telling us she had found our PB...wow!  I was in shock.  But, what to do?  I tried emailing the original owner and my emails were blocked (what did I do to deserve this?).  I didn't have a good phone number and 411 was of no help (figured she must be in the same town as where this angel called us from).  So, we flew him back here and in the three weeks he was gone, he went from 16 pounds down to 12!!  I think he ran away very early on and but for this angel we'd never had know.

The night he came home all sad, was one of my happiest memories. We picked him up at the airport , took him out of the crate and he jumped into my arms!  He was sooo hungry, that he ate 4 bowls of food and then he slept for two days!  Poor guy, was exhausted, hungry and who knows what terrors he endured.  I've never seen so much hair on this poor dog. On top of all this, we had this new puppy and I was afraid on how he would react.  You see, no matter what we did in that year, he always hated other dogs (no dog park for him)!  But low and behold, they are now the best of buds!  Fozzie and his puppy school friends meet 3 times a week at one of our dog parks and we've started taking PB.  He still barks the loudest, but has many friends to play with.  He actually loves these puppies and Fozzie is the one that wants to go and play with the big dogs...go figure.

Today, he's gained back his weight, his coat is shiny and he seems happy, though much more reserved than he was.  It was probably a month before he even tried to play with a toy and he always wants to be close to someone in the house.  He also seems very nervous in a car now and gets agitated if he doesn't know whre he's going. He tolerates Fozzie and his antics and even comes to get one of us if Fozzie grabs a shoe or is getting into something he shouldn't be (what a great dog-sitter,huh?)

I just personally believe that he decided he wanted to come home and he was bound and determined to do so!  I have great joy in my life with not one but two of the greatest miniature poodles ever!

Nancy, I have a question. If you didn't know where the owner was when she called and wanted her dog back, where did you send the dog? I mean, how did you know where to send the dog? I guess I'm confused.

But, I'm delighted that you got PB back. So, this post is around 5 months old, have you got a new camera cord yet? I'd love to see the photos of both PB and Fozzie.

Marianne,

WE gave him to her sister who took him to wherever she was, so even today, don't know where she is, but we're loving having two dogs!  They really keep us and themselves entertained.  I'll try and post some new pics soon.

Nancy, if I were you, I wouldn't respond to them if they call again. How could they have been so irresponsible to allow the poor thing to wander, unfed and unprotected? I'm so glad he found his way back to you, by any means.
